Not ideal

It is not the best at pumping. You spill milk a lot and it’s heartbreaking because any breastfeeding mom knows how hard it is to produce your liquid gold and to see ounces spill every time you pump is heartbreaking. The only good thing is that I can be away from a wall and pump.

Need larger sizes

I have the 27mm flanges — which work for me no problem with any other breast pump. I’ve noticed with the willow that my nipples swell during the pumping sessions, probably because the suction is keeping the pump on the breast. This causes the flange not to fit my nipple correctly and causes pinching about 5 min after the session begins. And a 27mm is the largest size flanges available. I bought this pump, which I actually like and enjoy all of the pros to hands and cords free pumping, but I now have a pump that causes pinching and there’s nothing I can do about it because I can’t return the pump but they don’t make flanges that fit me appropriately for their product. I DO like that with the pump the flanges are big enough to press against some of my milk ducts, helping it get milk out a little bit quicker.

Good output

It works well but does take a little time to figure out how to get it lined up correctly. If it’s not it hurts your nipples and will pump air counting it as milk ounces. Be sure to resuction if it doesn’t feel right and look for milk on the top of the bag to be sure it’s pumping correctly.

I love how I’m able to do more things around the house and pick up my baby when ever I want . No more connected to the wall pumps . I do recommend this . It’s going to be even more reliable once I go back to work and pump

Entire product doesn’t work

Nothing about your product works. I’ve spent a lot of money on this and nothing works. I pump and the app says I get something but then when I remove the pump the bags are completely empty. Waste of money.

Painful and not extracting enough milk
on December 6, 2021

I have a Medela Freestyle pump (2018 model), and though the Willow is more convenient in the sense there are no cords, more discreet, and I can move around easier, the downsides are 1) the Willow is painful as your nipples are pinched the entire time so expect them to be very inflamed and swollen when you remove the pump. I had blisters my first time around! 2) I don’t get anywhere the amount of milk extracted like I do with my Medela. I have a hungry baby so it is important I extract enough milk on a daily basis. I need to keep the Willow on for over 50 minutes to get somewhat close to what I get in 30 minutes with my Medela. Time-efficiency and milk-supply-wise, the Willow is still behind the Medela. I have tried different Willow flange sizes, played with suction levels in order to promote more let-downs, however it just doesn’t work the same. I love that I can wear the Willow and do stuff in it, however if it is milk supply you are after, without painful pinched nipples, then you may need to consider another pump.

Easy to use, easy to clean, relatively comfortable. The least annoying flanges I have ever encountered.
