The reason I purchased the HP Envy is that I wanted the touch screen feature. After purchasing the product and paying a tech guy to transfer everything from my old laptop to this one for several hundred bucks, I find out that the touch screen doesn’t work. After over an hour on the phone with HP tech support, they said they need to send a thin drive to reinstall Windows. This will require me to spend more money with a tech guy again to save everything on the computer before it is completely wiped out and have them transfer it back to a new system. All of this may cost more than the laptop cost. And now I have to decide whether not to use a laptop that does not have the features that I want, or spend as much as the laptop cost me on technology support to get what I paid for to start with. This is ridiculous.

Nice Computer

This computer is an upgrade from another HP Envy that I purchased 2 years ago. The fit and finish of these units are really nice. Since it has 1 TB SSD storage, it is very quick to open, close and change pages. My older one had a 1 TB hard drive and was much slower. I like the 17” screen because pages fit on the screen without having to move them to see everything. Double screen works great on it also. I’ve only had the computer for a week and so far no flaws. I’m happy.

I am very happy with my purchase. I hope the fast performance last for a long time and I have no issues with the WiFi connectivity as I had with my previous one.

I love my new computer. This is my second HP laptop. I upgraded from my HP Envy 15 because I cracked the screen. I have nothing negative to say about this computer.

Large bright screen, powerful machine

We bought this HP Envy to replace an older machine we were using for our work on line.
The only complaints I have is it is hard to find the power on button and we had to order a dongle to interface the Ethernet Cable to the USB-c and the dongle uses battery power when plugged in.

It is alright. But no Ethernet port!

I bought this because my Toshiba finally gave up the ghost and really I wanted something just like it, but of course that is near impossible. I am not a gamer and the stress I put on the computer consists mainly of having multiple tabs open in the browser, a photo editing programme open, a genealogical software open and maybe a Word document. I knew that optical drives were going by the wayside and felt that I could make that compromise with an external drive as I still have lots of DVD/CDs. I never even thought to verify that it had an Ethernet port nor was this absence highlighted in the description. To me it is like saying the car does not come with gas tank opening. I prefer having my laptop attached to the internet via Ethernet since I find it more reliable for my needs.
Also I went with 2 hard drives, one SSD and one SATA as I was told that this was a good compromise between old and retiring hardware and new more expensive hardware; I do use a lot of storage for my research. However, I am not tech savvy but know enough...probably to be dangerous, and trying to figure out how to get the system to use the D: drive (the largest) for most things automatically is trying and frustrating. Having multiple internal hard drives may be natural for some users but I should have stuck with just one. For me the computer is a necessary tool and not something on which I want to become an expert. I find no joy but lots of frustration in having to set up a new laptop yet again just to do what I want. I can not recommend this configuration to a friend for they would be novices as well. The computer is attached to a docking station, which works better for my research needs. In that regard it seems to be fine. The docking station is necessary since this laptop does not have sufficient ports (USB etc) for my what I do.
The screen seems fine, the computer is responsive. The keyboard seems a little soft to my touch but ok since I use my ergonomic keyboard and vertical mouse most of the time. The camera and speakers are fine, though I do tend to use an external webcam and speakers as I find I like them better. I am not one to choose a computer because it looks pretty, but I do like the finish on this one as it does not show fingerprints easily.

Runs so fast even the WiFi is super fast without having made any changes to my WiFi plan. The only thing I’m not too big of a fan about is that it weighs a little heavier than I expected but other than I‘m really enjoying it

Just what I wanted

After over three years without a laptop, I chose the HP Envy when I bought a new one. Because of my eyesight, I need a large screen with clear display. I also wanted a keyboard with a numerical key pad and a backlit keyboard. I have had this laptop for just two weeks and it is proving to b an excellent choice.
