Does not impact the blackbars, but when a face moves through a dark scene you can tell. TV performs great with PS as expected and no concerns on that at all - Love the HDR and what this TV can handle.
Good price for an 8K, 86” TV, I went for size over the smaller OLEDs.

This TV is brighter than I anticipated and uses less energy and gives off much less heat than the Samsung. I bought my first flat screen in 2010 and it was an LG. That TV just needed replacement in the last year, so I stand firm by LG products in general.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow, I never thought I would own an 8K TV so soon! I literally just remember when 4K sets started to be introduced and I thought that its picture quality is going to be more than enough. And now I own an 8K Mini LED TV from LG (full model number is LG 65” 65QNED99UPA MiniLED 99 Series 8K Smart TV). At first I thought I would not even notice a difference between 4K and 8K, however I must say the image crispness and the enormous resolution is so much worth considering an 8K LG TV and in a way future proof your purchase as I do not foresee 16K sets to be introduced soon.
This LG TV is considered to be LG's flagship and top of the line set in their 2021 lineup. This TV is the first one to bring MiniLED backlight technology which allows it to have greater control over the local dimming feature. The 65QNED99UPA features an IPS panel which allows wide viewing angles and low contrast, and the full-array local dimming helps improve the black level and gets closer to matching OLED black levels. I am not sure how many dimming zones LG has integrated in this TV, but the uniformity is pretty darn close and I did not notice any "dirty screen" effect. I did notice a few blooming around bright objects however I have not "broken in" this TV and with some fine tuning I believe I can eliminate most of blooming.
Its design and build quality is very impressive. I like its panel, which is pretty thin and is the premium metal surrounding it stands out. If you want, it is easy to wall mount this TV and it will look gorgeous in any room.
The Web OS has been refreshed and I still like its fluidity and easy to access menus. Smart platform has all kinds of popular apps like Disney Plus, Netflix, YouTube and so much more can be found in the LG Content Store. The new remote is so nice and has dedicated buttons to access the above mentioned apps. You can also use this remote to enable Google Assistant or Alexa and the built-in Mic will do the rest. There is NFC feature built-in the remote as well, so you can easily use your smart phone and cast its screen by simply tapping it on the remote. Very ingenious!
Overall, I am very impressed with this TV and even though there is not much of 8K content available yet, you can enjoy beautiful 4K content upscaled to 8K and with its Mini LED backlighting, you are paying for an amazing picture quality to be enjoyed on every occasion. Like all LG TV;s set up is fast and super easy. This TV is phenomenal on clarity. It has deep colors and super bright. We used to have a problem on other TV with shadow showing when bedroom light on. That does not happen now with this TV. The colors really pop out. I love the mini LED technology. The TruMotion 240 technology makes this TV really outstanding. The Dolby Vision, HDR 10, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG are also incorporated into the TV It has 4 HDMI inputs. It comes with the Web OS for simple navigation to the menus. Smart platform comes loaded with all the popular apps like Disney Plus, Netflix, YouTube. We watched a movie on HULU and it was like being in a theater. It works with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit. The remote is sleek and has instant access to all the apps so you have instant connection. Google Assistant or Alexa or also included. Bluetooth is easy to navigate. It is easy for us to use smartphone and link it to the TV. My final thoughts, I am very impressed with this TV and would recommend to anyone. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The LG 65inch QNED99 is a feature packed 8k television that will be as future proof as it gets. The television is heavy, and I suggest getting help to unbox it and wall mount it if you go that route. The QNED99 comes with four full bandwidth HDMI 2.1 at 8k 60hz but keep in mind that one of the ports is dedicated to ARC/E-ARC if you have more than three HDMI 2.1 devices. The TV is very easy to set up with the new version of WEBOS compared to other brands you should have the TV running in less than five minutes. The TV supports YouTube 8k APP and I suggest updating the APP and trying some 8K content it will leave you blown away and that is just the beginning of how great this TV is showing 8k content. Now there is not a lot of 8K content out there outside of YouTube APP but the QNED99 can upscale Standard Definition and High Def and 4k Content to 8k and it looks great and not washed out. The processor in this TV can handle the upscaling and keep the picture looking great. The TV does not support VRR for gaming, but I honestly don’t believe it needs it. From my gaming I haven’t experience any sort of tearing of lagging at high frame rates with my Xbox Series X and Nvidia graphics card, but I believe it would have been a great option to have on this TV and hopefully it can be added later via a firmware update. The TV does not support the new ATSC 3.0 if you are on the lookout for that spec. There is only one issue I encounter with the Television and it’s when using the Netflix app and subtitles the screen would tend to dim and bloom around subtitles but for me this is not a deal breaker because of the way the TV handles upscaling other content and gaming which doesn’t show the same issues. I believe the diming and blooming could be related to the Netflix app and LG has been constantly updating the TV. In all I would recommend this television to my friends and family that are looking for the set of features this TV offers. I received this product at a discounted rate in exchange for my fair and unbiased opinion.

I am looking forward to watching Christmas movies together soon to get in the holiday spirit! We watch football every Sunday to cheer on the Chiefs!
