Smaller footprint but for ~1,000 sq ft maximum
on October 10, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Solid humidifier. I own both the older version 50 pint and new 35 pint version. The new 35 pint version works well in my 1,100 sq ft basement and maintains 55% humidity levels. However, if set it to 50% humidity, it runs almost constantly and struggles to achieve the goal (usually keeping the basement around 52.5% humidity). The older 50 pint version can achieve whatever humidity setting I desire in the basement (on medium setting). On my 1,700 sq ft main floor with cathedral ceilings however, the new 35 pint version cannot maintain proper humidity levels. With it's smaller footprint, I had hoped to be able to keep the less obtrusive model on the main floor - but that isn't possible. It also has a side blower (which can be a benefit or a negative depending on where you choose to place it). The 35 pint model set to high is the same decibel level as the older 50 pint version on medium. Ignore the decibel levels on the website - I own both models and placed a sound meter next to them. The older 50 pint model can easily maintain humidity levels on my 1,700 sq ft main floor with cathedral ceilings. I have never set it past medium (to keep decibel levels down) and it works just fine. The tank on the old 50 pint version is much larger than the newer model... so it requires slightly less emptying.
So, my suggestion is as follows:
New 35 Pint version: No more than 1,000 sq ft for ~52-55% humidity levels. 58-60 decibels on high.
50 Pint version: Up to 2,000 sq ft for 45%+/- humidity levels when set to medium (58-60 decibels on medium). Even better humidity levels when set to high.

35 PINT VS 50 PINT
on January 6, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Couldn't find a 50 pint. Went with the 35. Works just fine. Build quality and water bucket same as the 50. We run it on low. We find the fan noise soothing, not annoying at all. It's definitely not loud. Brought our house down from 65% to 35% in no time. Wife is on oxygen from a bought with double pneumonia she had in both lungs. She struggles with breathing in hi humidity situations. This helps her a lot. If your a research junky like I am. I'm sure you already know the Frigidaire is at the top of almost every comparison. Skip the small table top models and get a 35 of 50 pint. You'll be money ahead in the long run.

Effective, but a bit loud
on May 18, 2020

This unit, for our guest bedroom, replaced a much smaller one that was extremely quiet. We wanted the exact equivalent and this one came closest, but it was larger in size and capacity. It works quite well, it is easy to empty the reservoir, and has maintained low humidity in that part of the house. The only problem is that it is quite loud, especially when the compressor kicks in. I think it would be hard to sleep with this thing grinding away in the same room!

Hi, Baumgarte!

We are glad to hear your dehumidifier is performing as designed and to your satisfactory.

However, we do understand your concern with it be a little loud when in operation.

It is normal for your appliance to make some noise when in use. This is usually from the compressor turning on and pulling moisture from the air.

You are able to view normal operational sounds on page 9 in the manual, with the following link, http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Edison/16120100A12519en.pdf.

Should the sound becomes un-normal or very clamorous, please chat with us by going to www.frigidaire.com or call us at 1-800-374-4432 Monday-Friday 8:30 am-8 pm EST.

Best Regards,
Ciara

Hi, Jld84! Thanks for taking the time to reach out. We always want to know when one of our owners needs help. If the humidity is higher than the setting, it will not remove moisture. My suggestion would be for you to adjust the setting to 35% to see if this will alleviate your concern. If this does not resolve your concern, reach out to us via chat here M-F 8:30am-8:00pm EST. -Corletta

Does not continously drain
on August 24, 2022
Posted by: BKJP
I bought this to continuously drain in my basement. I had a different unit previously that continuously drained and worked well. I hooked up the same hose to this one, and had it going into the same drain, but this one does not work. It just fills the bucket rather than continuously draining through the hose. When I called customer service, they told me that from their perspective the unit was working as it was filling the bucket, so there is nothing that they can do.
Response from frigidaire.comBy AshtonOnline Outreach SpecialistAugust 25, 2022
Hi, BKJP!

Thanks for reaching out with your concerns! The dehumidifier is doing its job if moisture is being removed from the room; if it will not drain through the hose, there may be an issue with the placement or hose itself! Please confirm that the hose is at least 1/2 inch, un-kinked, and unobstructed. You should also ensure the hose is going straight down from the drain port, as it will rely on gravity to work properly. If there is any elevation in the hose, the water will back up and drain into the bucket instead. Some consumers with uneven floors, curved hoses, or higher drains may need to elevate the dehumidifier on a solid flat surface. I hope this information was helpful!

Best,
Ashton
