Excellent Grill

Purchased this new grill. Overall very pleased with it and it is of the quality and features expected of a Weber grill (my 5th Weber grill). Like the stainless exterior and grates and bars. Fold down warming rack also nice touch. Only reason not a 5* is that the power for the Weber Connect Hub is D size batteries which are rarely used anymore and the batter box is set underneath in the back corner making it a bit of a challenge to access. So why not use more modern type (lithium) batteries and place for easier access. Setting up the connect app was also easy and look forward to working with it.

Very Happy

Very well made. Backed by the best help line & service I've encountered in at least 20 years. Plenty of heat, good controls. App & electronics make it easy to keep the grill at the right temp. Only slight complaint is that I wish the burners ran lengthwise instead of widthwise. I use a rotisserie a lot and it's easier to get the right indirect heat for the rotisserie if you can just turn off the burner under the spit. Couldn't find any grills that were made with the burners running lengthwise though, so maybe most people prefer the going the way these do.

We are thrilled to hear that you love your new grill and what a compliment to our consumer care team! You can definitely get great results from to back burners while using a rotisserie. You actually have more room in the center of the grill for rotisserie cooking with this burner configuration, just keep the middle burner off if you are looking for indirect and have the burner knobs on each side turned on. When you are not using the rotisserie, you can use the heat control to grill different foods at once, like veggies on the left, steak in the middle, and maybe a warming zone on the other side. Please click here for one of our favorite rotisserie recipes: https://www.weber.com/US/en/recipes/red-meat/rotisserie-prime-rib/weber-12301.html?fuelType=gas. Thank you again for being the best part of Weber, and reach out to us if you have any other questions!

Good grill, not so “smart”

Very good grill with a few upgrades from the past grill. The smart features are ok for sending basic info to your phone. You also have access to recipes through the app which is a great feature if you want to move away from some basic grilling. These recipes I believe could also be found on the website so it’s a cleaner way to access and use them. You don’t get anything that would be revolutionary from a smart feature. For example, you can’t control the grill temperature from your phone. Overall, very good grill with some upgrades but not a very “smart” grill.

Solid product with a few gaps

The grill works well and was fairly easy to put together. The digital temperature probe and app works well if you only have a single person in your house grilling. However, you can't connect it to multiple devices without first disconnecting the first device and re-pairing to the second. Even when you connect the grill to WiFi. This is a real annoyance and removes the benefit of the digital features if you have more than one person in the house grilling.
Assuming this is fixed in a software update I would give it 4-5 stars.

Not a smart grill

I had been saving up for some time to get a weber, and waited for this smart series to be released. But the app DOES NOT WORK.
It will "forget" the grill again and again, so it defeats the purpose of the high price tag for this model.
Don't waste your time or money with this grill. Buy a cheaper Weber instead.
The grill itself is a good, solid grill.
On a side note, the instructions for assembly were amazing. Fairly idiot proof.

Hi! Congratulations on your new Genesis II SX-335. We’re pleased to hear the included instructions made the assembly process simple to follow. The pairing issue you've described is certainly not expected. Once your grill is recognized by the app, you should only need to press “pair device” and then select the check mark on your grill’s controller to complete the pairing process. Please be on the lookout for an email from us. Our team of experts will be able to help. Thanks

Quality control is very poor. The grill arrived without castor wheels, the electronic controller and a scratched door. No spares available in the short ter. New grill delivered. Yet to work up the energy to unpack it.

Response from weber.comBy Weber GrillsConsumer CareMay 30, 2021
Thank you for taking your time to leave feedback regarding your new Genesis II SX-335. We are very sorry to hear your grill arrived missing casters and the door and connect module were damaged. There should certainly be no damaged or missing parts, and we apologize for any inconvenience. That is certainly not what we’d expect for your new grill purchase. We are glad to see the needed parts have already been ordered and you also mentioned the grill being replaced. We have reached out to you via email to discuss this further and see what we can do to help. Thanks!

Great except for the temperature readout. Who decided it was a good idea to have a grill temp readout dependent on batteries?

Response from weber.comBy Weber GrillsConsumer CareOctober 1, 2021
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We are sorry to hear about the disappointment with the use of battery power on the temperature read-out. You will be able to monitor your battery level on the grill as well as within the Weber Connect app. A full battery level will appear in green. A low battery level will appear in red. We offer the option of using an external battery pack and connecting it to the USB port inside of your grill cabinet, as well. Please be sure to bring the external battery pack inside after every use. We will reach out via email to ensure you do not have any other questions or concerns regarding your new grill. Thanks!

Clear Gaps in Quality Control
on May 1, 2021
Posted by: mrr333
I got to step 25 in assembly and one of the rivet nuts for the screw threads is missing. So I had to contact support and they are shipping out a new front frame (that hopefully has the rivet nut this time). I'll have to disassemble the grill entirely and rebuild it. NOT GREAT. I'm sure there are good ones out there, but it seems to be down to the luck of the draw.
