Handy little kit and easy to install, but the battery seems to discharge even when not in use. It can lose 5-10% overnight, even with nothing plugged in or the lights on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this SolarHome kit with preparedness in mind. I have not had the opportunity to use it “in real time” situation yet; all I can say is that when I try it to make sure I can count on it, everything seems to work as it should.
My only concern is about cold weather: being in Canada, I wonder if the outside cables and connections would endure our frigid winters. Will it stand permanent installation?
Also, info about the AC wall charger should figure in the manual.
And finally, I really would appreciate to find info about the “Battery Expansion Port” which is on the right side of the Control Box. What can I do with it, and how can I use it?
