Had a small issue with the motion sensor going to sleep permanently. BIOLITE WAS GREAT! They quickly made that right.
But now I went to my outbuilding after a day or two of sun and the control panel said it was dead 9%. But it got pretty cold last few days and I believe the system has some kind of protection tied to temperature. I am waiting for it to get warm and see how the system responds of it works as projected in warmer weather I'll be satisfied but there has to be a way around the cold weather issues. My outbuilding is used a lot during hunting season for various reasons and this was to be the answer for easy lighting versus running 100-200 ft of extension cord. I don't know all that much about solar but there has to be a good solution as my uncle has solar at a remote hunting cabin and no issues when it get cold there.
This is guiding my decisions on a more robust solar system for my house and outbuilding because I do love the idea of these solar lights. Heck I sent out a video to those who got it for me for Christmas on how well it lit up the workspace. So it's basically dead. Anxiously waiting for spring to see how it changes.
I'd recommend this to folks just give them a cold weather heads up. And I will buy the AC adapter very soon

I love this concept. I live in an off grid house, so I was really excited about getting these lights. I don’t want to be disappointed, but I am a little bit. It doesn’t charge that well and the battery will drain itself even without a light or a radio being on all day. It’s also weird if you want to have it in your house ( which you do if in north for temperature requirements) because you have to have the cord going outside for the solar panel. Which means you need to drill a hole through a wall or have the cord through a window that needs to stay slightly open so you don’t sever your cord to your solar panel outside. I will figure that out. I do love the switches that makes it easy like living on grid. I would prefer to have a choice in colour accent. The blue isn’t in my decor ☺️. I have been sitting at home in the evening and all of a sudden the lights go out after a couple hours when they’ve been on the lowest level and I wake up in the morning and look at the information panel and it will say that I have 44% battery and they just shut off. This is happened a couple of times and then as mentioned the battery also just drains itself if you’re not using it I have double checked and double checked to ensure that the motion sensor isn’t on and the lights are all off when I leave. Also, if you live anywhere in the northern hemisphere, get the electrical adaptor for charging in the winter. I typically use these lights for maybe three hours a day max and usually on the lowest setting, and they don’t really hold up. Maybe there’s something wrong with this set that I got but I don’t find them as good quality as the Biolite single lights battery. I believe in this company and will keep watching them grow.

Got one for the Father-in-law and he loved it. No more hauling propane across the lake for the lanterns and now he has a radio that doesn’t require a pocket load of batteries. Had to order two more for him because the first one met its demise in a house fire.
