Works great in our off grid home, this is the 3rd system i bought. I put the other 2 in sheds without power. Highly recommend. Especially for power outages

Great Idea With Flaws

I purchased 2 units for our goat barns. They work great in the summer when I rarely need lite that early or late. In the dead of winter they provide no light. I chalked it up to less sun and cold temps affecting battery. However a bought an inexpensive solar light package for the outside of the barns (same locations for solar panels) and they worked fine all winter long. That is the issue on a technical level.
On the corporate level I had an issue with a squirrel chewing through one of the wires to a light. When I called to get a replacement light and wire I was told the company does not sell parts and I would have to order a whole new kit and could toss out the old one. I was astounded that for a company whose mission statement is to make a better planet they promote such wasteful tendencies either out of laziness or greed. Either way seems a180 of what they claim. The reason i did not give zero stars is because I do like the vision and how the company has provided product for those in need. Just hope it never gets cold nor they need a part.

As a crossover product, the SolarHome 620+ was designed for use predominantly among off-grid households across sub-Saharan Africa. The product will not charge in below-freezing temperatures and will not output light in temperatures below -4°F (-20°C). Thank you as well for your feedback around replaceability - we do not currently stock spare parts in our outdoor recreation markets due to low failure rates of SolarHome System components but this is something we will definitely look into in the future! Doesn't work in the cold

I bought the solar 620 for my poultry barn to help with light in the dark days of winter in Maine. The light system has been great all summer, but this morning when I turned it on, it turned off within a minute with an error message that the temperature was to low. I am well aware this is to protect the battery from freezing but I also have another older system that I was upgrading and that system has always worked no matter the temp. I am upset that biolite doesn't say anything about this issue and now I have spent money on a product that is useless for me. I would not have purchased if I knew they had a temperature safety set and that the system can not be used in the cold. And yes the battery is fully charged and I am still unable to use the light. The onky reason I give it 2 stars ia that if you live in an area that doesn't go below freezing it would work well. The temp this morning was 26 f. I have several months coming up that it wont't go above this...so frustrating.

Waste of money

This lighting only worked for a short time. Within 6 months of purchase and having used it only probably 5 times it totally failed. Reported it to Biolite and heard nothing back! Bad product/ bad service. Plus the color of the light was cold and ugly.
