This is by far the best headlamp I have used. Great flexibility and comfort. Bright adjustable light. This headlamp surpasses any other headlamps I have used previously.

Great little light love the tilt feature. Holds charge well . The bags a little funky to use and the button to turn on is a little small hard to use with gloves.

Best Headlamp yet!

I have been impressed with the Biolite products since they started with the small stove. When they announced their headlamp project, I signed on as a backer. I frequently use headlamps, and have tried many types over the years. The replaceable battery powered types are sometimes bulky, and don't fit always fit well. I found the best of those were well designed ones like Petzl. The promise of a lightweight rechargeable headlamp with adjustable lighting was too good to resist. When I got one of the early units a few months ago as a backer, I was totally impressed with the headlamp. For such a compact headlamp, the fit is excellent, the adjustable lighting easy to use, and most impressive of all, I can't believe the battery life from this headlamp. They have a terrific product.

best head lamp ever

for far to long I have run the name brand headlamps. they are great don't get me wrong. but this thing is awesome. it has better battery life, better light quality, lighter in weight and a rechargeable battery. the only thing better would be self solar charged or some kind of biothermal charger. I got this on kstart. I just ordered another one for work I like it so much.

Light, tight and bright

Just did my first run with my new BioLite headlamp. Yowza! Love how it fit and how it feels. It is comfortable and snug and there is zero bounce. It is light weight and well balanced...I hardly noticed it, except for the great light it threw. Even with thin gloves, I was able to adjust the angle of the shine with no problem. I love this lamp and can't wait to take it camping. So glad I opted for this headlamp, with so many out there to choose from. Excellent value. Excellent customer support, too. Happy happy happy!!

The upsides and the downsides from an engineers perspective.

First I will start with the positive. The fit and feel of this headlamp allows you to wear it quite literally all day long with no fatigue, and from my experience with headlamps, that is no small feat. It feels great, and stays put, without budging. It is extraordinarily light for a headlamp this bright, and with so many features. The ability to charge via USB instead of replacing or recharging AA or AAA batteries is an obvious must, and although this is a must, it is also the beginning of the downsides. The battery is not accessible to replace in the future (after at least 500 charge cycles or so) without destroying the battery pack. It is ultrasonically welded together. The benefits to doing this, making the unit waterproof and cheaper to manufacture, but I see it as a part of the throw away economy we need to move away from. I don't know if the USB port is water resistant without the little silicone flap covering it up, but it is likely not, and if the cover gets ripped off in the future by accident, the water resistance will be compromised. A non-issue for the majority, but something to note. For the joggers and bikers, an optional rear facing blinking red light would be a huge plus if it existed. I wish the on/off/feature button was more obvious to find, as it is hard to feel, even without gloves on. The CRI is good in spot mode, but flood could use a better diffuser to fix uneven coloring lines. The red light is fairly bright, but not dimmable. Hard to beat for $50.

Taking Headlamps to the Next Generation

I bough the BioLite Headlamp to replace an old unit I had been running with for years. The entire experience with the BioLite unit has been head and shoulders above my old unit. The brightness is amazing! Love the weight balance of having the battery on the back of my head and the fit feels oh-so-good.
An unexpected consequence of that added brightness is that cars pull over/slow down more frequently and at a greater distance that previously.
The only thing I wish is that they had a model with a red light on the rear but I'm just being picky at that point.
