Wow! Pleasantly surprised!

So I bought this in the spring with great intentions. I was intimidated by it though as there’s no throttle control so I envisioned that I wouldn’t be able to control when it kicks on or off. I spent two months looking at it, but afraid to actually try it. So on vacation I packed it along n decided to try it there where there is much less traffic then right out my own front door. You engage it by turning on the speedometer button on the left handlebar. Then start pedaling. In a few seconds you will feel it take over. If you completely stop pedaling, the motor will stop in a few seconds. Keep pedaling along and the bike will assist all along. There are settings that make it cruise longer without pedaling but for myself, this is exactly what I wanted it to do. It wasn’t scary at all, even for this girl that had images in my head of all sorts of calamities. Now I ride it everywhere. And bonus, I hooked up a pull behind cart and my toddler gets to ride with me, strapped into the seat, wearing a helmet. What a joy!

Brakes squeak and gears slip

I’ve been on two 13 mile rides with this bike. The brakes squeal like crazy. On both rides I’ve had problems with the gear shifts. Gear shifting is clunky and several gears don’t seem to catch. If you’re in PA 3, on a straight stretch, there is no petal resistance in the highest gear (7th). It feels like petaling air and feels really unstable. Going up a steep hill in first gear with PA level 3, the bike only creeps along. It seems like the motor lacks power going up steep hills. I'm taking it to a bike shop hoping they can fix the brakes and the problems with the gears.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This was a present for my partner, I bought the Men’s model and loved it so I bought her the same model with step through frame. Assembly was made easier by my previous experience with my bike. So far we are very happy with both bikes, she set assist level to 0-5 electronically and rides without assistance until she really needs it. Well made bike, assistance is a big bonus!
