This is our second motion trashcan from Simplehuman. I love how the bags are tucked in the back. They’re strong and large which makes them more affordable than people think. Wish they had a scent like the ones I like from the store. I like how I can plug this can into a power outlet instead of using batteries. It does tend to phantom open and close just from my voice talking to someone. Would definitely recommend

I could not decide between the white or stainless steel finish but ended up purchasing the white. I’m so glad I did! It’s very different with a modern, sleek style! Goes nicely with my white cabinets and wood floors. Love the motion sensor but don’t really use the voice activator.

I've never had a nice trash can

It's true that I've never really thought about having a nice trash can, but this one sure is nice. I originally just wanted a larger trash can than the one I had. I liked the idea of having a lid and covering up the garbage but wasn't sure I would like having to push the pedal all the time. This can took care of that for sure. I usually just put my hand or trash in front and let the lid raise, but my wife prefers to say Open Can and use it that way. Works fine either way!
It's almost a gimmick but you won't believe how nice it is to buy the bags to store in the back. After pulling a full bag out, which by the way is easy since there are air holes at the bottom of the can to prevent airlock, just grab a new bag right there in front of you.
Glad it finally came back in stock in white to match my other kitchen gear.
The only thing is that the voice detection for Open Can is very wide and it will open for a lot of different conversations. It's not really a big deal because it will close right back after a few seconds but just thought I would bring it up.

Lid sensor is not the

Lid sensor is not the best and opens randomly as well as there is nothing smart about the sensor as it defeats the purpose and opens for my dogs. It’s nice that it can plug into an outlet but I must say J am extremely disappointed and had way higher hopes. Also I wish they made a trash can that was larger like a 21 gallon but if they ever do they need to fix the sensor issues first.
