Well designed, and well made, from good materials. However: Only a few very superficial parts are available. NO internal parts are available. No diagrams. No numbers. No descriptions. Thus, it cannot be repaired. Consequently, this is a throw away tool. Too bad....

Great electric saw

I attached this saw to my portable saw mill and it cut up several board feet of lumber from logs on my property. It did amazing and never had any issues. Really beats trying to keep a gas chainsaw running and so much quieter! I like the brake feature so the chains stops immediately when the switch is released.

The chainsaw will cut any tree out there...hickory, oak, walnut etc. with ease. The thing to remember is to use a heavy guage extension cord.

I really like this chain saw. I had a smaller 14" saw which was limited by a bar guard on the end. This saw uses an anti-kickback chain so no bar end guard. I was able to cut down a 22" tree easily. Of course, the chain was new and sharp so it cut quickly. Nice and quiet and easy to start compared to gas powered saws. Nice safety mechanisms with a kickback disconnect (which, thankfully, I did not need) and some kind of chain clutch so the chain stops immediately when the switch opens.
Pros: Deep Cuts, Lightweight, Easy To Use, Quiet, Powerful, Rugged

This saw has loads of power, quiet, reliable, and smooth. However, the handle placement is slightly odd and uncomfortable and makes it hard to cut perfectly straight after the chain is worn a little.

I did a ton of research before buying this product. The reviews and the price are what led me to make this purchase. I was concerned with the name Sun Joe. I had never heard of it and to be honest I thought it sounded like some cheap brand that one would find in a tent sale or something. So far, I have not been disappointed. This saw works great! I was skeptical of a chainsaw being electric as opposed to gas, but the prospect of low maintenance appealed to me. All I have to do with this saw is keep the lubricating oil filled up. The chain lubes itself as long as you keep the oil filled up. I had a tree in the front yard that I tackled with this saw. I easily cut branches that were at least 16" diameter, maybe more, I didn't measure. It held up quite well. I read a few reviews about the chain coming off frequently, but I have not had this problem. As long as you keep an eye on the tension during use it will stay on. It fell off once on me and that was all I needed to remember to keep an eye on it. Never had a problem after that. I used it heavily for 3 days now and have not thrown the chain off again. The only complaint I have with the product is that the instruction manual was confusing in a couple of places. It stressed that the chain would continue to move for a couple seconds once you let off of the trigger, but mine does not do this. I thought maybe I had the tension too tight but that was not the case. I was worried that maybe I was going to burn up the motor so I emailed the company and they told me that it was fine. The assembly instructions for mounting the chain were confusing for me too because I was missing a hex nut that was supposed to be holding on the bar. Sun Joe is sending me the missing nut, but my saw actually works just fine without it. It has been over a week and I have not received the part yet, so those are the reasons that I only gave the saw 4 stars. You can consider the saw a 5 star buy though. I doubt many saws will be shipped missing the part that I was missing. I really like this saw. I like it so much that I also ordered the Sun Joe SWJ803E-CMO Electric Pole Chainsaw. I have a ton of high branches to cut and some 4-5 inch diameter ivy that is strangling my tree in the backyard. The pole saw has been amazing as well. ****DON'T FORGET TO BUY THE OIL WITH IT.

Cut through 10" limbs like butter. Had to make 1 chain tightening, normal due to new chains stretch. Oiler worked fine also.... no kickbacks at all...

This chain saw is the best. Light weight but powerful. We are actually cutting small and big logs with ease. Great safety switches and bars to protect the little ones from accidentally starting it. It is easy to start and stops immediately.
