Verified Purchase:Yes
This product was easy to use and worked well on small trees and larger branches. I cannot crank my gas chainsaw so this has proven to be a great alternative.

Plenty of power!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a bit skeptical of a battery powered chain saw, but I was presently surprised by the power of this Sun Joe 16” 24volt chain saw! Received this in the mail on Friday, and it was perfect timing as my honey-do list was needing to be tackled. We have two small trees in our front yard that have been left to their own devices for the past three years, and desperately needed some attention. When I first opened the box I noted that it was very well packed. Wanted to get right to work, but realized that the saw did not come with bar oil. That would be my only complaint, and it was solved with a quick trip to the hardware store. The batteries charged in around 45 minutes, after reviewing the instructions I got to work. The first branch I tried to cut was super smooth! I was instantly impressed. This is an electric saw, and I was expecting less than optimal performance, but I was surprised just how quickly this tackled the job. When you start the saw the chain does take a second or two to get up to full speed, but once it’s done it goes through branches like a hot knife through butter. I started small, and when I saw how easily it took down those branches I moved to larger ones. Within 15 minutes I had piles of branches on my lawn. I may have gotten carried away. Between the cutting down, and trimming I used this saw for about an hour with no drop in performance. The batteries lasted a surprisingly long time, and from the start of the job to the end of the job there was no less power noted. Great little saw by Sun Joe. I highly recommend this for someone who doesn’t have a ton of use for a chain saw, but still may need one on occasion!

Against the reviews I still purchased this chain saw because I was familiar with their brand and have the handheld pruning saw. Like everyone else said upon my initial use the chain loosened up, it didn't fall off it just loosened. I may take it back and get something different, I like it though

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sun-joe 24v x2-cs16 48 volt cordless chainsaw isn't a gas chainsaw by any means but it does get the job done for me without any fumes.
I'm using it in my workshop to trim bowl blanks (woodturning) since I don't have a bandsaw. I'm not sure how long the batteries will last because they did all I asked of them this morning without quitting. It uses the same batteries as other sun joe products I have so that should never be an issue.
It does have a little light on it that tells you when you are overloading it so you just slow down a little and it keeps going.
I did find that the chain loosened up quite a bit but it never came off because I caught it beforehand.
This being the initial use maybe some of it was just stretch. I'll find out on the next use. Just something to keep an eye on. You don't need any tools to tighten so it's really not an issue either.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my first electric chainsaw and I couldn't be more happy with. It has plenty of power and it tore through and old pine tree that I had in my back yard. I cut it down and then into 25 or so pieces with no problem whatsoever . I highly recommend it .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this chainsaw for yard cleanup and am impressed by it. I am able to cut branches, limbs and small bushes easily. It handles well and the motor is powerful. Being able to tighten the chain without any tools is very convenient. My favorite feature is that it is battery operated. I don’t have to deal with gas like I had to do with my old lawn mower, which I never cared for. While I do use a lawn service for the big jobs, I enjoy being able to save money and tackle the smaller projects on my own.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great chainsaw. This Sun Joe Cordless Chain Saw Kit is awesome. I really dislike having to pull start a yard tool. This doesn't have that. You can start it with the trigger and top handle. Starts up easily and easy to handle. Was able to cut a bunch of down branches in my yard from the ice storm we had. Turn knob for the tension of the chain. The battery lasted a few hours and with two, one is charging if you need to change the battery out.
