Great alternative to 2-cycle tillers

This is a great piece of hardware. Ordered the kit, was up and running in less than 20 minutes after unboxing. Batteries arrived almost fully charged, the quick charger is awesome as well. Only issue with fit and finish was the plastic connector between upper handles being repurposed from another tool and not being quite wide enough to bridge the gap. If it breaks, which seems likely, I'll file a warranty claim. Like most of its kind, this little guy doesn't weigh much (even with 2x 5.0ah batteries installed), but that is also true of 2-cycle cultivators.
The battery life with the included batteries was enough to till a 4x8 bed that has been neglected for 2 years (packed, full of weeds). This would have done 3 beds of the same size had I planted last year. Hope this lasts many seasons! Thanks Joe!

Skeptical- knew I could return- So surprised at the product and it is Magnificent for me as I am over 67 years old and I can use it! Light but durable. Batteries are great as I have not used the whole charge yet and have operated the tiller many times. I would be one to say yes to telling others to at least try it! It is not a Heavy Duty tiller but it is more than what I ever expected it to be!

Great for filling the garden and flower beds

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this product to review and put through all its paces. This is a great tool for the right job. It works wonders in a garden and flower beds that have been worked before. I tried using it to create a new bed in clay soil and it took longer than I thought it should, but did do the job. The duel batteries were pretty phenomenal and lasted long than I did in the sun. It’s light weight body made it easy to place in my garden beds that has brick boarders. It tilled and weeded the garden in no time. I also like the quick stopping action of this tiller, which is controlled by the handle triggers. This is really helpful when you have to work close to boarders or corners, so not to damage anything. If your a gardener with a vegetable garden and flower beds, this tiller is perfect.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Sun Joe battery operated tiller is an excellent choice for those wanting to cultivate smaller areas. The tiller includes two 2.0 AH 24V batteries with a dual charger. The tiller set-up is easy and took less than 5 minutes. The batteries fully charge within an hour, consistent with the 55 min charge time indicated. I was able to till the area in the photo shown on one set of batteries. Some of the garden is 4 inches, but most is about 6 inches. The tiller is easy to operate and handle. Sun Joe recommends going up and down in slightly overlapping vertical lines and then horizontal left to right to cover all the areas and to keep the rows even. My soil is on the harder side in a few spots and I had a few smaller roots and the tiller didn't show resistance except during those conditions. I had one large, long root and when I hit it, the tiller would bounce. I had to manually dig up and cut out the root and then was in operation again. I also had one smaller root that wound around the tines and jammed the unit. To remove the jam, I waited a few seconds for the tines to stop, removed the batteries, let the unit cool, and removed the jam. I have used a gas operated tiller before and I find the battery operated to be more convenient, even if I am sacrificing a little bit of power. Cleaning the blades after use takes a little time, but will help the unit last longer. I am impressed by the power this battery operated unit produces and admit I was not expecting it to perform as well as it does. I am very satisfied and I recommend this product to anyone wanting to cultivate a smaller area, especially those who prefer battery operated over electric and gas for this operation.

Great tool

I put it together easily without hubby’s help. It works great and makes clearing a garden much easier. The 2 batteries last a long time and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. We have an assortment of the 24v tools and all of them work well and batteries are interchangeable. Good job!

Spring has sprung and I am using all my Sun Joe machines to get my yard in beautiful shape.This tiller is light, fast and effective at getting my flower gardens and vegetable garden ready for planting season. The twin battery setup is neat, delivering about 45 minutes of operation between charges. I got a ton done in that time. Sometimes I had to push down and redo a couple spots. The tiller is lighter so it bounced over a few hard packed areas in my yard. I am so Pleased with the time I saved over the garden claw,cultivator,shovel old method of doing things. I am actually not exhausted after all that work is done!

Easy to assembly and use. Tilled our garden quickly and the battery run time was efficient. Quick charge as well. Light weight which made for easy of use. As did the three adjustable heights. This is a great battery powered option for back yard gardeners. Doesn't take up much room in the shed either.
