Useful for trimming sides of high cedar hedges without need for stepladder and the shoulder strap helped to support the trimmer for this type of vertical cutting. Was useful to have the extendable pole for also reaching horizontally across the top of a hedge where a regular sized trimmer was not long enough. However, the weight of the trimmer head made it difficult to use when reaching horizontally - perhaps another attachment point for the shoulder strap closer to the trimmer head would help support the trimmer better when used horizontally. I was satisfied with this purchase and it did what I was wanting it for - extra reach - both vertically and horizontally.

For sure, this trimmer has more than enough power to do any trimming needed. I'm using mine to trim our Palo Verde trees. It does a great job on the general trimming but I was amazed at how well it went through branches that actually were larger than the spacing of the cutting teeth! It just chewed it's way through. I not talking about branches of large size but, these were about a 1/4 - 3/8 inch larger than the tooth spacing and never looked back!
There are only three things I had some problems with (all minor) and there are/were:
1. The unit gets somewhat heavy after using it for more than 15 minutes ( the longer you extend the pole of course, the heavier it seems).

2. It seems the person who sewed the elements of the strap together sewed the wrong end near the clip that hooks to the trimmer. That placed the "quick release in a bad position. I carefully cut the stitching (which is very strong thread) and reversed/re-sewed (end for end). Now it more comfortable to use and works fine!
3. You really need to obtain one of those wool type seat-belt shoulder pad things. The strap will really cut into your neck without it! The little pad thing that comes with the unit is actually worthless and slides all over the place when your reaching around, using the trimmer.
The three things above are all minor but, they need to be addressed/considered. The video showing the lady using the trimmer makes it seem like it an effortless venture. I'll bet she only used it for 1 -2 minutes. I'll admit, I'm on the plus side of 65 and if I were forty and in the shape I was then, the weight factor wouldn't be so bad but, for us older guys, I love the thing and it does a great job! Saves me form being up a steep ladder 4-6 ft. No worries of falling and I only use it once per year to trim my trees!
Knowing what I know, I'd still buy it! Kootos to SunJoe!

I have a 10' tall cedar hedge lining the back of my property, and I used to trim it with a hand-held trimmer on a ladder. The telescoping hedge trimmer made things SO much easier, faster and safer. It's a little exhausting holding it up to get the top, but still totally worth it.
Product worked very well, no issues, blades are sharp and cut through everything no problem. I'm probably going to save myself 10 hours of hedge trimming a year :)

The SunJoe SJH902E ploe trimmer works fantastic. The hedge has never looked better - and in a fraction of the time it used to take to trim. Plus all of the shrugs have been shaped as well. And I saved so much time I did the neighbour's hedge as well. A really great buy.
