My son has had a smaller bentgo box for the past 3-4 years, but he's going to Jr high so I knew he was going to need a bigger lunch box! I was looking at the other larger capacity options, but went with the Go Max specifically because of the ice tray that it has. I would like the option to buy an extra ice tray for those days my son forgets to take care of it the night before, but the only extras available are for the smaller boxes. SN: this box is quite heavy when just the ice tray is in it, but it still fits in my sons lunch bag so it'll be fine.

My son has had this box for a week now and I will say when I pick him up from school inside of his insulated lunch box and not his book bag, it does stay cold. But I downside is that it is much larger and heavier than expected and when the container is closed without the ice pack it is VERY HARD to open and I have to use a fork or knife to pry it open, but with the ice tray opens with no issue. It is also hard to pull the ice tray out at the end of the day.

Chill factor fades fast!

I purchased two of these Bentgo Chill Kids Lunch Boxes because I wanted the built in ice pack for my child’s lunch. I tested it at home - after 3.5 hours, the string cheese was warm and rubbery. The ice pack was warm. I took the internal temperature of the cheese and it was 75 degrees- ick! I’m glad I tested it before sending to school, but disappointed I need to figure out something else…
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
