My 29 y-o Bro Is Working Fine! Wanted An Upgrade.

Im a self-taught person who can use a sewing machine. My first Brother was a gift from my husband 29 years ago. Being a military family I was proud to make pillows, kitchen curtains, Halloween costumes, special occasion dresses, school clothes, military and martial art patches, kitchen curtains, alterations, and now “customized” face masks. Tiny but Mighty

I bought this machine because it came with the walking foot. My previous Brother stopped working, but when I started sewing it powered through multiple layers of fabric and terry. I love it but I miss the automatic thread cutter and the lighted stitches panel.

Upgrade machine

I've been sewing with it weekly since I bought it four months ago and have been completely satisfied. I mostly quilt (piece) but also have done some machine quilting to finish my projects. The attachments and controls to change stitching have worked great. I really love the ease of using the automatic reverse/reinforcement stitching and the maximum sewing speed control. I bought this to upgrade my machine of 45 years that had none of these features! I was also looking for a machine that was lightweight and could travel with me to workshops and when on vacation. this machine fit the bill for it's price.

I love brother products

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't say enough good things about brother products. They're extremely user friendly and beginner friendly. They have in-depth instructions for those that would like to read about every single craft they can do on the sewing machine, but they also have a quick read for those that don't care. They're sewing machines are usually very easy to thread and simple in their use. This quilt sewing machine comes with 100 pre-computerized stitches meaning with a simple touch of a button, you can do a specific kind of stitch. I never tried a computerized sewing machine before, but I definitely love this product and use it a lot to make Christmas gifts and other homemade crafts. This machine is not very large so it's easy to store and is even portable as long as you have a carrier for it. I also love that brother products come with minimal cords so you don't have to worry about getting tangled in them during use. They also have great customer service so if you have any problems or questions, they get right back to you and answer you thoroughly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great but: No hemmer foot? Guide incomplete?

I really love this thing. I adapted to the cabinet from the Singer 832K I was using. That thing was my mom's and I'm 74! Yet I gave this 4 stars and not 5 for 2 reasons:
1) There does appear to be a hemmer foot available for it. I asked on the site about the SA127 and the reply was no, that is not compatible. I then asked what was compatible and received no answer. Apparently the SA164 is not compatible either. Are there others? I can't find way to filter for hemmer feet on Brother web site.
2) The other day I loaded up a new thread and when I started a straight stitch--what a mess on the underside! I re-strung the thread being more careful and that corrected it, but I am not sure why. I think it has to do with the way it goes through the tensioner. There is a little guide that the thread needs to be in front of, apparently, but the instructions do not specify that.

Love this sewing machine!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this sewing machine! It was super easy to get set up. I love that it comes with a quick start guide to show you how to quickly and easily set up the machine and get it threaded. Everything is super easy to figure out and adjust. I was able to switch between different types of stitches without any issues. My favorite feature is how easy it is to thread the bobbin. I've had a really difficult time with that on past machines and this one was super fast and easy. Perfect for a beginner or expert!
