Few makers use this kind of cooking/heating. Superior system. I have used products by Char Broil for a decade and this product is no exception to quality grilling with non flaring heat. While the four burner is big I use half the surface for great control. Lamb for instance is better low and slow. The problem with this great grill is the wiring to the junction box. It shakes loose going just over the brick flooring and makes the clicking of the lighter. Taking the small electrical wires back to the box and plug in. It is supposed to be roll away with wheels. Still with the glass in the door looking at the cooking is new too. So top points. The red lighted knobs are cool and I use a metal smoking cylinder for wood to burn to add taste. It would be nice to have a oven light inside. Taste is great and meat cooks better than charcoal or direct heat.
I bought this grill for my husband as he loved having a Char-Broil Infrared in the past. We love the griddle and the light up knobs as well as the glass front top. The only drawback is that it is very tedious to clean the grates. Other than that it is an amazing grill with tons of room and truly cooks evenly. Have recommended it to two friends!
Recently relocated to Arizona and needed to buy a new grill. Have had my eye on an infrared for years, but, couldn't bring myself to foot the bill. I figured, for the money saved, I could eat lots and eat well with just a regular propane grill. Boy was I wrong. Past: flare ups, burnt food (from aforementioned flare ups), charred mess to clean up, had to pay constant attention to "squirt" the flare ups and move the food around trying to avoid excess "char". New: Cooks in less time, never have a flareup, can pretty much set a timer and join the party, an incredible "clean" setting that, truly, does reduce any residue to ash that can be easily brushed away. Where I used to groan when the wife would tell me to fire up the grill, now I cheerfully cook anything she wants on it. I wish I had "seen the light" years ago.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My first gas grill purchase

Love this grill! Two small complaints, the wheels/casters do not swivel to move the grill around easily, and the infighter failed less than two years in. Otherwise, its a great grill and I would purchase again!
I have been a CharBroil user for many years. I recently purchased this gas grill to replace the previous similar Tru-Infrared Performance 4-Burner T-460 model. Pros: I like the window on the lid and the lighted knobs. The built-in shelf makes it easier to store cooking accessories. The burners seem to ignite faster compared to my last one, which is similar. The amplifire system, which replaces the tru-infrared system, has improved since the perforated stamped cooking grates fit tighter and provide better cooking without flaring. Cons: I noticed in comparison that the quality and material on the new version are inferior to the previous one. The stainless steel seems to be thinner than the older model. The doors don't close properly and instead of being constructed of stainless steel they are constructed of plastic and stainless steel, which is probably why they don't close properly. The rear firebox panel and the lower back panel were dented and distorted when I opened the box. I was able to straighten them out since the metal was very thin and is probably why they became damaged during shipment.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the grill! Only complaint I have is the caster wheels are too small. It's hard to move around.

Nice grill, but the ignitor failed, and we can't get them

We really like the new grill. However, the ignitor failed, and we cannot obtain a new one. Seems to be endlessly backordered.
