A GOOD, COMPACT DINGHY FOR A SINGLE-HANDED YACHT -- AND MORE!

I bought an earlier version of the AHTK-1 (one-person) kayak, to use as a dinghy for my 30-foot sailboat. It has worked out pretty well, but I thought I could do better.... A few weeks ago, I bought a Sea Eagle RazorLite kayak, as a replacement for my Montana. It was faster - but "tippier" - and it was three feet longer than my Montana, which means that I couldn't handle it on the foredeck of my sailboat. So I've sent it back. I've just bought another Montana AHTK-1 to enjoy when I'm away from my home waters. It's capable of "light" white-water, Class I-II, so it can handle the 'rock garden' rapids of my nearby rivers. I can also enjoy it when the weather's 'not quite right' for sailing on my segment of the Chesapeake Bay.

GREAT INFLATABLE KAYAK, HOWEVER NOT TYPICAL

I absolutely love this kayak, I can keep it in my car for an easy inflate and go kayak. I use it on a weekly basis, have yet to see an issue with it. It is very light (about 30 lbs). I am 5'5", 125 lbs and can carry oars and the kayak on my own (inflated and not) easily. It is a bit awkward at first but once you get a groove on the carry it becomes easier. I plan on buying a sail and finding a skirt to fit to take on some rafting trips. I would caution that it isn't a typical kayak, you will be working harder to go the distance of other kayaks because it is so light and easily blown by the wind. It is a very good alternative. Would recommend to any friend.
