Mold in lid within a day

We bought three and so far each two developed mold in the lid. They are mostly the kids bottles. I think if you eat and drink, the mold will develop quickly within 24 hours. It's a hassle to clean since the gasket is smaller. It's not kid / teen friendly unless they can wash it themselves every day after school.

Doesn’t keep my drink cold

I received the bottle for Christmas, in fusha and bought my boyfriend one as well, in green. The feel and shape of the bottle is sturdy, but it does not keep my drinks cold at all. I was really disappointed after hearing all the hype. I do not feel they are worth the money, when they don’t hold up to the company’s word of cold for 24hours. I feel like mine stays cold for a few hours max.

I am NEVER one to leave reviews but this water bottle is so overhyped I had to. I cannot believe how many good reviews this water bottle has. I ordered the 4”oz active bottle and it could barely keep ice for 8-10 hours in an air conditioned house! I would not recommend this product.

great for cold not for hot

Too much heat escapes from the plastic lid, so my hot tea is warm within a few hours. I like the shape of Takeya's large bottles much more than Swell's, but if I'm going to carry around a 40oz bottle, I want my tea hot. No complaints on the cold (though it doesn't keep as cold as Swell, I don't mind).
I hope they rethink the top's material!

Only had this bottle for a week and few days and the lid already smells. I love that it’s 40oz but I think I’m going to stick to my yeti cups.

We are sorry that your lid smells. This is the result of it getting dirty. We recommend cleaning your bottle and lid once per day to ensure that it remains mold and germ free.
We recommend that you hand wash your bottle with hot water and a non-abrasive dish soap. For a deep cleaning, we suggest cleaning the Lid O-Rings with a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar. Do not use cleansers with harsh chemicals like bleach or chlorine as they can ruin your bottle. Occasionally, remove the silicone o-rings in your bottle cap and clean those as well.
Note: After cleaning, make sure that all parts are completely dry before reassembling.
However, all of our lids are top rack dishwasher safe and we encourage you to wash them that way especially if you drink something other than water to keep them mold and germ free.

I had found a Takeya 40 oz that my daughter apparently was not using. It became my constant companion. It made it easy to stay hydrated all day, it was nothing to do 2 fills a day (twice I have been hospitalized for dehydration leading to kidney failure before I got wise). When I moved, I lost my trusty black 40 oz'er. I tried other cups and bottles I had around but they were inconvenient. So I broke down and got me a brand new powder-blue one. I'm happy and hydrated again.
