Function of travel mug

I have purchased 4 travel mugs over the last couple years. The flip top lid has a plastic latch and it has broken on every mug. The lid will no longer close /seal. I would be willing to purchase another lid because I love the insulation of th mug. But I will not purchase another one because of th plastic latch

Great bottle...until the lid breaks for no reason!

I love this bottle. We have several and I use certain ones for coffee. I love that they really hold their temperature well and that I can lock it and keep it it in my purse without worrying about leaks or the cap opening. Yet it's still easy to drink from. Once, I dropped the bottle and the lid broke. Bummer. Only bottle this happens with--yes, I've dropped other bottles and never had the lid break. But I thought it was a fluke. Since then I've been super careful and another lid broke, for no reason, just gently opening it to take a sip, just yesterday. It hadn't been dropped, no trauma. Yet the little latching part just snapped off when the button was pushed to open the lid. I came here to see about a replacement lid and they're only available in black. But if they are this unreasonably fragile, then what's the point? Really disappointing. Takeya should really figure out a design that allows for locking and easy sipping, and is hearty enough to not break.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love the bottle ....... but ......

I love, love, love this bottle! However, latch on the top breaks way to easily. I received my first one as a gift. The latch on the top broke right away. Wasn't dropped, or knocked over. They did replace it with the option of a black or white top, not blush to match the bottle. I bought another one because I liked it so much. The latch on the top on this one has broken too, for no seemingly good reason, though not as quickly as the first. Looking at other revews, this seems to be a common issue. On a good note though, my ring on the top of both bottles is intact! Lol.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ring Material and Design Flaw

I would have given a 5 star review. Unfortunately the ring design is the biggest design and material failure I've come across next to the Yugo automobile from the 80's. Come on, let's use a titanium ring and an actual pin / screw for the hinge.

Won't get fooled again - redesign the ring Takeya

We have four of these bottles - four of them. We love the quality of the bottle itself - it really does keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold and didn't leak. But as many others have commented - the lid sucks big time. All of our lids have broken. We bought a bunch of replacement lids and now they are broken too. As the saying goes - "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me". Well I won't be fooled again. I am looking for a different product. As a note - Takeya if you are reading these negative reviews - your reputation is tanking because of this. We were loyal customers before our lids kept breaking. The design itself is to blame - partly the weakness of the plastic on the ring, yes, but also the fact that once the ring breaks (which it does far too easily) then the entire hinge holding the top part of the lid to the bottom part is compromised and it is then unusable. If you just made the ring so that it is not connected to the hinge that opens the lid - or remove the ring altogether - that would probably make the whole issue less of a problem.

Lid problem

I love this bottle but the lid broke the third time I used it. The concept of the lid ring is great, and I love the built in ring on the bottom, but it is pretty unusable with a broken ring - too hard to easily carry and it has nipped my finger a couple times since it broke. Too expensive to have the ring break so easily and quickly.

Great to hold & use, but quite fragile

- Comfortable to hold
- Fits standard cup holder
- Keeps water cold
- Cleans decently well (though it's a bummer the main part isn't dishwasher safe)

- Top broke upon first drop (from not that high)
- Top is expensive to replace
- Only replacement color is black, which looks pretty awful with an arctic white mug

I really expected an item labeled "Traveler" to be more durable and/or replacement parts to be not that expensive :-(
