Another great medium roast

Being mostly a fan of dark roasts but really loving the House Blend, i thought i'd revisit Pike Place as i remember liking it in the past.So glad i did.This is rich, full bodied,earthy,nutty with a slight chocolate note and light refreshing acidity.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A change for the worse

I was able to get my hands on the old bag that had the 71 on it and I can now confirm, that the new pike's place roast is different!! The new formula is what others are mentioning as bad!!! It seems like a darker roast and has bitter notes. I hope Starbucks goes back to the old formula, otherwise I'll have to find another medium roast elsewhere. In the meantime I will savor and enjoy my last bag of the old formula.

Pikes Place was expensive but truly good and so worth the cost. Unfortunately, something has changed the flavor in the past 2 years (source or quality of beans, blend, roast... I don't know what) that has made the coffee much worse. I have tried sticking it out in the hope that it was a temporary anomaly, but it is now consistently bad. It is a shame, but I will have to find another coffee.

My only coffee for 8 years

So rich in flavor, btw I hate dark roasts with their bitter burnt taste; this is normal roast with a rich full flavor so rich i make 12 oz coffee with one kuerig.
Starbucks is more expensive but worth it.

Tastes great

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wouldn't say this is the perfect cup of coffee for my taste, but it's pretty close to it. The taste of the cocoa with toasted nuts really comes out in the flavoring and overall, much better than bland coffee.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pikes flavor has changed drastically for the worst

I have been drinking Pikes Place daily for many many years...
Its my only go to blend in stores and at home as well.
The last few months the smell.. taste.. color and body of Pikes has changed for the worst.
No life.. no flavor.
It tastes like dead coffee. Watered down.. the coloring has changed as well. Weak.
New packaging in the stores states notes of cocoa and rich praline. The original Pikes Place as well as the package pictured on this website says rich flavors of cocoa and toasted nuts...thats the good stuff..however stores are now stocked with new blend and packaging saying cocoa and praline...Huge difference. Starbucks changed the blend to a weaker blend and kept the name Pikes Place thinking the customers won't notice.
Shame on you Starbucks.
This new Pikes is awful.
You should promote this new blend as Pikes light or something else. It is flavorless watered down coffee.
Please bring back the original Pikes Place and rename this new blend of Pikes in your stores or better yet.. remove it.
I love my local baristas.. they go above and beyond to make the customers happy but unfortunately.. I won't be visiting Starbucks daily if they cant bring back the original delicious aromatic Pikes Place.

Doesn't taste the same

Got a bag of the ground from my local store. The taste has changed, you can tell just from smelling it in the bag. Pike Place no longer has a buttery smooth taste all the way through. Now, it has a harsh bitter almost burnt taste at the end! I thought I got a bad batch, but this doesn't seem to be the case as per other reviews.
