[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thinkpad is a beast! Its is very fast and has handled everything I have thrown at it thus far. Battery has been better than expected.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've always loved Thinkpads, but have been using an SB2 for a couple of years, lured by the promise of tablet / laptop functionality and so on. About a year ago I bought my daughter an X1 standard version, and was surprised to feel some jealousy when setting up what was overtly a machine with inferior specifications to the SB2, but which felt much nicer to use! That experience definitely had something to do with my recent purchase of the X1 Extreme Gen 3. And I couldn't be happier - it is a joy to use.
A few great features I notice up front. These are somewhat "in comparison to" the SB2:
- A decent amount of ports.
- The ability to upgrade RAM and SSD.
- The discrete graphics card does not keep disappearing from the system randomly
- The screen is beautiful. I got the 1080p version and am not disappointed with the lower resolution. I should mention that screen brightness and contrast have been a niggling issue with previous thinkpads I've had - no more!
- The laptop feels fast to use.
A couple of cons:
- The fans breath through the underside. This means that if you use a cushion or similar to prop up your laptop on your lap you will run into cooling problems. The SB2 breathed through its sides which was much less intrusive.
- Fans are noisy when working hard. Many people mention this. It is true. However, you have the option to force the laptop to not work quite so hard by setting performance levels; I'd rather have the option for when I need it.
- The dock (AC40) needs 2x cords: power AND thunderbolt or USB C. This is because the latter can't provide enough power for the laptop. I understand the limitation but don't like it. It means I have to use two power supplies for my desktop setup: one for the laptop and one for the dock.
Overall I would recommend this laptop and remain a Thinkpad enthusiast!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great laptop. Keyboard is very nice. Very quality screen. Battery life is impressive and quick charge is impressive. Very nice laptop. Plays games such as Cities Skylines very well.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the performance and quality. Lightweight, and durable. The ergonomics are perfect, the mouse pad and keyboard are nicely centered, which is rare for many 15" laptops. The only point of improvement I've noticed so far is that speakers are bottom firing, which isn't as effective when using on your lap.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Thinkpad was easy to setup and has been everything I wanted out of a laptop. I would highly recommend the laptop I purchased.
The computer is very nice. I was very surprised that the keyboard didn't come with the numeric 10 digit key pad. That was the main reason why I went with a 15" screen.
