[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For work I use the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen2, and when it came time to upgrade my old Thinkpad T530, I opted to get the X1 Extreme Gen3, since I liked the Gen2 so much. I run a log of Virtual Machines and like that I can upgrade the RAM and add a second NVME drive to this laptop. It's extremely fast and having a dedicated GPU adds even more responsiveness. The laptop stays cool and is relatively quiet.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent laptop. Relatively light weight, gorgeous display. Recommend it except for 2 big drawbacks. Heats up. Also very poor battery life (Do not believe battery life stated by Lenovo).
If you are using this connected to power all the time, then it solves the battery life issue. But then not considered portable. Keyboard has great depth but if you are used to 1.3 mm key travel or less, you will find some letters skipped because you did not press hard enough. Also one of my USB ports do not work. Came that way.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What an amazing piece of hardware. I am simply in love with my X1 Thinkpad. The speed of this machine unbelievable. I have used and trusted Lenovo machine for my work all my life. I am supremely happy with my purchase. I would recommend to the world.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is great. It’s very lightweight, performs very well for someone like myself who does development and virtualization, is extensible in its hardware capacity, and the hardware built is mostly solid.
As for Cons, I do have a few, namely the microphone and webcams. Both aren’t exactly the best. I ended up getting an external one, but they’re both OK if you’re just doing conference calls or something simple.
A lot of people tend to complain about battery life, and I’d say the battery life could be better, but it’s not TOO bad. You’re definitely not gonna get what is advertised though.
The number of peripherals is one of the things I really enjoy. That was a nice feature. Some people say to get the UHD screen but I was fine with the FHD (Plus I get more battery life with it). I really didn’t find the screen to be a big issue, although I know others that own a Dell XPS say the screen is better. Lenovo has its components that are better than Dell XPS, and screen quality isn’t one of them.
Overall it’s a great device. Definitely would recommend.
I am coming from a Dell XPS 15 (9560 version), and this is a worthy alternative. In comparison to the XPS, I believe the overall build quality, design features (camera placement / cover, ports, trackpoint), and general robustness of the X1 are all superior. The keyboard and typing experience are far and away better than the XPS.
So far the two negatives for this computer, and which prevent it from 5 stars in my opinion, are the battery life, and overactive fans. I don't even have the 4k screen and the battery life is still only between 3 and 4 hours. The XPS had much better battery life. The fans are noisier than the XPS, and come on even under light usage when you wouldn't expect them to be needed (e.g. simply typing an email, with no other tabs or programs open, and in a cool room).
