The simple, no frills design with the exceptional keyboard and focus on the practical are what drew me to this. That and the four upgradeable RAM slots and two m.2 drives. The fingerprint reader is by far the best I've used as well.
One last thing is the Lenovo Vantage software. Normally I remove all extra software and reinstall Windows, but this time I left Vantage, as it allows me to leave the machine charged at 80%, to help preserve the battery life (vs leaving it plugged in and charging all the time).
There wasn't any bloatware that I found, so that's anoyher plus.

The build quality is very good. No sounds coming from the hinge or chassis. The keyboard and mouse have a good feel and have enough travel for comfortable typing. Matte finish does attract smudges if your hands are oily but it's not really an issue. Overall, laptop feels like it can take a lot and keep going.
Overlall look is good. The carbon fiber design does not look cheap and the laptop overall is both stylish and professional. It is not heavy at all for it's size. Screen resolution is wonderful. I also have the X1 carbon and the resolution on that one seemed much lower and things seemed much more blurred than on the X1 Extreme. Picture quality is rich and detailed. A great improvement.
Boot time is reasonable for an SSD. Included windows hello cuts login down. Setup didn't take much time. About 30 minutes to install all the latest updates and drivers. Not much bloat wear other than lenovo vantage and one other app.
The experience overall is good. Still want to install photoshop and other photo editing software and see how the laptop handels. Will update the review then. I trust Lenovo's build quality and hope this laptop will last many years.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This my third Lenovo laptop purchase in 2 years, not because I have problems with them, but because they are great. Bought a Carbon X1 first, then another for my wife, and just upgraded to an Extreme Gen 3. All 3 have excellent build quality, don't run too hot, and are not loaded with the bloatware that many other consumer brands ship out of the box.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great laptop, no complaints here! FYI, when connecting an external display, there's already custom scaling applied in Windows by Lenovo when the laptop arrives. To reset it, I had to go into Display Settings -> Advanced scaling settings -> Custom Scaling, and enter a number there in order to force-reset the big-scaling factors! Otherwise, smooth sailing. Processes work tasks like a champ.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Loved my experience shopping for my ThinkPad X1 Gen 3 Laptop, it was just what I was looking for lots of memory, easy to use, beautiful screen and fast.
