I like much about my Garmin. It actually replaced an older version Garmin. My older Garmin would only hold a charge for about 1 & 1/2 rounds. This new version has gone for 3 rounds and still has plenty of charge. What I don’t like: The charge level is harder to access A course I play has 3 nine hole courses and when they rotate the courses, it is hard, if not impossible to adapt to the changes with the new unit. On the old one you could at least turn it off and back on to reconfigure the range finder to the course sequence

Sturdy as can be

As a walker I was concerned about the durability of such a small unit, about the size of a silver dollar, being attached to my bag. The housing is metal and the clip is fixed as tight as can be. I put an old key ring through the top and although it's snug it isn't going anywhere attached to a carabiner. I'm still getting used to the features but the yardage is large and easily readable. I'm very happy with my Garmin. 45 holes and still over 75% charge

Keep it simple, and the device is really good.

I've used my new Approach G12 over four rounds now and have arrived at three findings. First, the distance data is precise, as we might expect from Garmin. I'm happy to depend on it. Second, a golfer has to be careful during a round not to poke the wrong buttons. (There are four buttons, and it's easy to accidentally press one.) One wrong tap can cause headaches. For instance, if you impatiently punch the wrong button corresponding to the tees you're playing -- say, blue instead of white -- you pretty much need to start over. Third and last: I've decided I don't need many of the minor features, especially if they keep me glued to the device when I want to be standing in the fairway, gaining my bearings and figuring my next swing. Too much fiddling. My basic need is for distances to greens -- and this device is terrific for that. I don't need to touch any buttons. It shifts from hole to hole without my input. If you keep score on it or collect other swing data, though, you have to keep your concentration on which buttons to press before the device will switch to the next hole. That gets to be tedious -- and it poses more chances to press the wrong buttons, which then cause more distractions. I keep my score and total putts on a scorecard, anyway.

Functional

I have had this G12 for about a month, Yesterday’s round the G12 decided to update, Yardage was definitely off after that. Not sure why but every shot was 10-15 yards off. Hoping this improves the next time out.

Good but still has issues

It has improved vision and large text options for us seniors but it still loads all the courses in the world which takes memory and a lot of time for updates. I am never playing golf outside the US so why load all the courses. Should be an option to just load what courses you actually might play

Easy to use and easy to read

I’ve played a few rounds with this rangefinder and I really like it. Just clip it to your belt and you’ve got all the front, middle, back info for your next shot. I don’t really unclip it at all…just sorta lift up on it and read the numbers upside down. The numbers are clear, easy to read and very accurate. I replaced my Garmin NeoGhost and am very happy with as aller unit.
