Have had traditional chainsaws and wanted no fuel and less maintenance. Had this chainsaw for about 2 yrs and happy with it. I have 2 batteries and so far get the usage I need since I am out of my tree downing era. Now it's cutting logs into manageable shapes for lathe turning.

I purchased the 16" 40v on 08/01/2018 and have used it many times since that date. I had to replace the chain recently (cheaper than having it sharpened). The replacement was an easy off, easy on assembly. The saw cuts through wood and tree limbs with little or no effort. I have 7 other Greenworks tools I went with the bare bones unit (no battery or charger)

This is a nice saw, but there is a bar oil issue

This saw has good balance, decent weight, and the battery does last fairly long, about 40 minutes on average of hard use so far. I have managed to overheat the battery and the tool shut off, so I pulled out my other saw to cut till the greeworks battery was cool enough to use again. I'm kinda confused that they don't seem to have any kind of cooling fan for the batteries, since it is possible to overheat them till the BMS shuts the battery down. The bar oil works great until you are done and don't drain the oil from the saw. If the saw sits at all with oil in it, the oil leaks out. I took the bar off to try and figure out what is going on, and I really don't see any reason why It would leak out. there is a rubber gasket on the green works saw to keep the oil from leaking, and its just plastic without a gasket on my other saw, yet my other saw has never leak a drop, and the green works saw will leak a whole tank out overnight. the dog teeth are metal and although not sharp out of the box, they can be sharpened with a file while on the saw for more grip on the logs to be cut. I'm not sure if it means anything coming from an engineering technician, but if the saw didn't leak, and the battery could keep from overheating, this would be a 5 star saw for the price and the features. now I'm wondering if I can mod the thing so it doesn't leak. thanks brain, I really don't have more time to dedicate to experimenting at the moment though.

I bought the Greenwoods 40V chainsaw in early July 2019, after reading the positive reviews and given my customer experience with a number of their other 40V tools. This is an excellent chainsaw...excellent performance, user experience, and value. I highly recommend this chainsaw.

Have used this saw three times in the last two weeks and it has worked flawlessly. I am surprised at the amount of power it has.So much easier to use than a gas powered saw. Battery powered equipment is the way to go!

The 2nd day after perchasing it we had two large trees go down in a microburst along our gravel road. I move as much to the side as possible with the tractor and then had to pull my new new Greenworks 14" chainsaw out and fired it up. No gas, no oil, no cranking. It did quick work on the tree trunks and was able to get the road cleared within minutes. Easy- peasy
