Very Good and Inexpensive Trimmer

I finally had an opportunity to use this new trimmer - I don't know why I waited so long to get a replacement.
The old trimmer I had was a Greenworks as well, it was a 12-inch as well, and it was a 40V, again, as well. So, since it worked for well for me, I decided to stick with the same model, buying a new battery to go with the existing charger I had with the old unit. The trimmer is about as nice if not nicer than my previous one, the only nit is that it feels heavier. The added weight starts to wear on you, especially in my case, has I have quite a sizeable yard to trim. Otherwise, I am happy with this unit and feel it will last as long, if not hopefully longer, than the previous one.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Can't find replacement line kit

Have trimmer model stf311, dual bump feed. I can't find a line replacement. Kit that was provided with the trimmer is AST-120-03. Please advise.

Do not purchase

We purchased this at the end of summer 2021. One battery will not charge. The string will not automatically feed. The machine will run for few seconds and then stops then it will come on for a few seconds and then quit. We are tried of trying to get this to work and shopping for a gas one. We have several other green works items and sure hope they will last longer than this item.
We really enjoyed using last year for a few weeks. It is lightweight an was easy to crank. We would be happy if it just worked.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear about the experience you have encountered with this product. Please, check that the guard is cleared of debris. Build up debris on the underside of the guard may prevent the line from cutting at its full potential. Ensure the cutting blade located on the underside of the guard is exposed, clean and clear of debris. If the blade is dull sharpen or replace the cutting blade. This will allow your trimmer line to work more effectively.
Regarding the battery, here are a few troubleshooting suggestions to check out.
1) When the battery is inserted, the light should begin flashing green to indicate the battery is charging. If this light is not igniting or is flashing red, this may indicate an issue and we would be interested in hearing more about this. If the light simply goes solid red, try removing the battery and unplugging the charger for about 10 minutes and place them both indoors in a room temperature setting, as this might indicate the battery is at the incorrect temperature to be charged.
2) Ensure that the battery has been fully inserted into the charger. Sometimes this requires a firm push into place to make sure that it has been properly seated.
3) Try resetting the charger. To do this, simply unplug it for approximately 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try reinserting the battery. If the charger has been plugged in for extended periods of time, this can sometimes cause the charger to malfunction. Should you continue to experience a problem please contact Greenworks at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the battery and charge so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

The method to feed the string needs improvement.

I tried to edge my sidewalk but the string only lasted a few feet before I had to “bump” the spool for more string. Greenworks needs to improve the engineering so that the string feeds itself. The only practical use of this tool for me is to trim around one tree in my yard!

24v edger

The edger was a disappointment because position of trimmer (what is to be affected by position of trimming cord) is difficult to judge. The "guard" (curved metal opposite shield) is easily knocked out of position, thus is ineffective.
I enjoy my 48V lawn mower, so the trimmer has been real disappointment.

Quiet. Lightweight. Easy to maneuver. Easily stored. Takes up little to no space in my garage. Battery is long lasting. Easily changes from trimmer to edger and vice versa. I highly recommend the trimmer/edger combo
