After a year, the blade jammed and made a humming noise. Watched a YouTube video and found this is a known problem. I was able to get it functioning, but on my next use, it jammed again. Not worth the money!
Pros: Cost-Saver
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello WiscoWolverine.
We are sorry to hear you have experienced this issue. Routine maintenance is crucial and should be performed after each use. To clean the blade simply use a dry or very lightly dampened cloth. Wipe up and down the blade plate and blade to remove dust and debris. For thorough cleaning you should also wipe down each blade tooth individually. Once wiped down and free of loose debris apply a light machine oil to your second rag. Using the same motions as before wiping down the blade plate and blade teeth. During this step extra is required for the teeth. Ensure that the oil is being worked into each groove. Not only will this ensure proper performance, but it also helps to lift sticky residue left from trimming. We have included a video for your reference that may assist you if you experience any challenges. It offers a step-by-step guide to maintaining your hedge trimmer. You can view it here. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZPWZPdIgTI). Before performing maintenance, the power source must be disconnected, and customers are also encouraged to wear safety gloves. Keep your hedge trimmer blades free of dirt debris and rust. If the troubleshooting suggestions and video do not resolve the issue, please contact Greenworks directly. To assist more effectively, have the model and serial number readily available to further investigate and identify any required parts. We can be reached through Live chat on (www.greenworkstools.com) or call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). We look forward to helping you better.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well, I received this unit, and put it to work, first of all, the claim that it will cut through 1 inch branch is a crock, barely makes it thru 1/4 inch. But it performs well, seems to be heavy, wish it had more power

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent hedge trimmer, sharp blades, cuts through hedges, vines, weeds, thickets, etc. Battery life is excellent and the rotating handle making cutting both vertical and horizontally a breeze.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quiet, Effective, Powerful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a big fan of GreenWorks tools and have purchased quite a few over the years. This is my third hedge trimmer. Does a great job and super easy to use. Running time on the battery works well for me (but I have a few batteries given my purchases over the years). Highly recommend.
Pros: Convenient, Easy to Use, Durable, Effective, Powerful

Hello WHEINECKE. Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are glad your Greenworks 40V trimmer is working well. The Greenworks 40V 24" Hedge Trimmer (MODEL# HT40B212) is designed for instant startup, so there is no intentional delay built into the tool. Some noise underload is normal for battery-powered trimmers, and the double safety feature is designed to help prevent accidental starts and keep you safe while operating the tool. If you notice any excessive or inconsistent startup delay, here are some tips that may help: Ensure proper battery seating: Make sure the battery clicks securely into place. A loosely connected battery can cause intermittent power or startup issues. Check the handle position: The rear handle rotates for versatility, but it must be locked in a valid operating position for the trimmer to start. Inspect for obstructions: Debris, sap, or thick branches can jam the blades. If the motor senses an obstruction, it may temporarily prevent startup to protect the tool. Reset the tool: If the trimmer has been idle, removing and reinserting the battery can “power cycle” the system and clear temporary safety modes. These brief delays are typically part of the built-in safety features and are not a concern unless the unit fails to start altogether. For detailed operating instructions, please refer to the product manual or Greenworks support page. If you need further assistance or guidance, our team is happy to help call 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or start a Live Chat on the Greenworks Tools website.
