Love the 5.5 quart size. Serves anywhere from 1-6 diners. The colour is quite unique. Li'l spikes 'neath lid keep condensed liquid moisturizing meal. Enameled inside and out for easy clean-up and maintaining it's original appearance.
This is an awesome 5.5 quart round cocotte. It is a great option for slow cooking meats, vegetables, soups, any much much more. The white truffle color is really pretty and goes well with any occasion.
This is exactly what I was hoping for. It's a great pot for cooking whole chicken, and for braises, stews, and soups. It's quite an upgrade from the uncoated cast iron Dutch oven I have been using.
The black interior showcases the food inside, and is easy to clean.
The white truffle color is elegant and understated. Lovely.
One word of caution about this and Le Creuset pots is that I don't believe they should be used for no knead breads that require preheating the pot to 450F. Staub warns against that practice, and according to owner reviews, Le Creuset denies warranty claims due to damaging the finish with excessive heat. I have baked no knead bread in the Staub without the preheating of the pot, and the results are identical to what I get from a preheated non-enameled pot. The baking time needs to be adjusted.
I am very pleased with this cocotte, and can recommend it without reservations.
5.5 quarts is very handy size. Lots of soup or stew..but also large enough on bottom for braising and seering. Durable cast iron will be around for long time in your collection.
Easy to use and easy to clean! Love the burnt orange color of this 5.5Q pot and use it for so many dishes. Heats quickly and evenly, up the sides, so cooks consistently throughout. No need to add water, as the lid spikes and dots create the way for moisture to remain trapped and go right back into the food. Nice to sit on top of your oven!
I have almost every color in the Staub 5.5 cocotte. I ordered this one for the fall holidays and pull it out every year. The heat capability of the pan is amazing - heats up quickly and evenly, also stays hot for hours. It has self-basting spikes on the interior of the lid which collect and return all moisture back into dish - nothing dries out and the food stays moist. I often pan fry burgers in the pan and the searing capability of the pan is amazing. Also, the high walls prevent grease from getting on the stove top. Latest addition to this workhorse is making bread, turns out perfect every time.
5.5 quarts can handle most anything. Enameled inside and out for cleanability and quick, even heating. Nobs beneath lid keep moisture where you need it.
Looks as good as it performs. Don't be afraid of enameled white exterior...it cleans quite easily. Nobs integrated on bottom of lid continually keep moisture where we need it!
