[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought mainly for use in the over (bread baking), but also love the fact it works equally well on any type of cook top. Multifunctional (less pots needed), seems indeed durable, and is aesthetically pleasing, which is important for my kitchen with open lay-out. Happy.
Exactly what I expected - Staub really makes great quality dutch ovens, and it has worked incredibly well to make multiple dishes so far, including sourdough loaves. The Saffron color is a gorgeous addition to my kitchen as well!
Beautiful pot! I’ve only had a chance to use it a couple times, but it is great. Such even heat, tight fitting lid. Perfect braises. Great for soups, pot roast. Surprisingly not too heavy for me to lift, which was a concern.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cocoette has been the best purchase! I use it all the time and it’s been great using it on our Traeger this summer. We also have the 7.5QT. You won’t regret this purchase!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as a very generous gift and love it! The color is beautiful, and the enamel looks nice and shiny. The lid—and the cocotte itself— is solid, well-made, and heavy and it seals in moisture very well. The only thing is that the interior of the cocotte and the lid are a matte enamel that rubs against each other when using. My range stove racks are not too kind to the enamel bottom, so be careful when moving your cocotte on the stove top. Try to lift and then turn, instead of drag or spin. Also warning for the interior of the lid: careful where you rest it. I have started keeping towels on the countertop or my wooden cutting board, so it does not get scratched either. The stove racks are again notorious for rubbing away at the matte interior. I might look into getting that fancy lid holder after all!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is amazing!!! I use it almost every single day and it conducts heat so perfectly on the stove and in the oven. I have used it for stews, soups, braises, sauces, and have even stir-fried veggies. It is so durable and so useful in the kitchen. It's also very pretty and I don't even put it away I like to just leave it out on my stove top when I'm not using it. Would make a great gift for any loved one or friend.
Love making no knead bread for my family, but wanted to double the recipe. Decided on this 5.5 cocotte and it is truly the perfect sized pan for doing that. My breads come out perfect. The metal knob on the lid is oven safe in high temperatures, which is perfect for the 500 degree temperature it cooks at with lid on. The lid also fits nice and tight, and creates just the correct amount of steam to produce a hard crust and moist and perfect crumb. Also great for Irish Stew which goes great with the bread.
When my family grew from 3 to 7 with my remarriage, I realized I needed something a little larger than the 4 qt cocotte I have. Thrilled to find a matching piece in Graphite in this size. Staub can't be beat as a cast iron product. Never has to be seasonsd, the dark interior has several advantages..better for browning, searing and sautéing meats and vegetables. The dark interior also doesn't show stains from foods like lighter interior cast iron. This cast iron is so versatile...I can bake in it, use it to deep fry, and of course all the normal functions of cooking.
