Beautiful knife, but concerned about sharpness

Knife has a great aesthetic and feels good in the hand. However, I was expecting the lower portion of the blade - the non serrated portion - to be sharp. It is not, instead the top portion is serrated while the lower is like a dull butter knife. These knives will certainly get the job done and look great, but I was a bit thrown off by this detail.
