Rooster French Oven

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Haven’t cooked in it yet. It’s absolutely a beautiful graphite grey color that goes with any kitchen decor. The rooster lid adds to the already gorgeous glossy pan. It sparkles!!!

The best cookware to have.

I've bought an Essential French oven for my daughter's future after grad apartment, I have not used it but one thing for sure, its conical bottom shape allows stirring and mixing effortless. It is perfect for daily casual meals or sumptuous suppers. Slightly shallow but still has a good food space.
Compare to cocotte, lid features tiny spikes on the interior, this French oven has chistera lid for excellent self-basting properties.
It performs the same functionality, that continually release condensed liquid back onto the food, yielding moist, flavorful results.
Lid with chistera lid does make a difference food taste wise, efficiency-saves gas and you can serve your delicious dish straight to your table without the need to use another dish.
Compatible with gas, induction, ceran, halogen, and electric cooktops.

Roosters rock!

I enjoy cooking in cast iron but several pieces are simply too heavy. This one is not. I think because the lid is lighter the entire piece is lighter. Plus it still has self-basting spikes under the lid, just in a different shape. I have roosters in my kitchen so this is a great addition. The carved detail adds so much. Thanks Staub!

This French oven cooks grains perfectly. It has self-basting Chistera spikes on the interior of the lid which collect and return all moisture back into dish - nothing dries out and the food stays moist. The heat capability of the pan is amazing - heats up quickly and evenly, also stays hot for hours. I have also pan fried a steak in this pan and it produces a beautiful sear.

almost too pretty to use

I love having this stunning grey pot sitting on my stovetop. Its beautiful and such a nice reminder that homecooked is always better than takeout! The Cast iron, french shaped, pot is perfect for an easy weeknight dinner or a slow cooked weekend dutch oven dinner! The thickness of the staub cast iron makes a huge difference in even temperature cooking.

A Unique Dutch Oven

More capacity than you may expect upon first view, this heavy-duty cast iron piece is topped off with nice rooster etching. Like other Staubs, it has chevrons beneath lid to distribute moisture more evenly than competitors.

I collect roosters so this was a must have for me. I love the French Oven by itself, but I am absolutely in love with this lid. I have a staub lid holder so when I am not cooking with it I have the lid on display in my kitchen. Of course I love the French Oven for all the reasons I love staub, self-basting lid, preseasoned, easy clean up and the colors are so beautiful. I love this piece.

I am really happy with this. Have only had it a week or so and have used it 3 times with great results. What a nice size. Love the color and goofy rooster lid. This is my first Staub and I think it somehow cleans up better and easier than my le Creuset pots.
