Let's start with the fact that this is not my first cocotte. I have previously used other oven brands but this one is by far the best. It is the perfect size for just about anything. It is the size I use the most. Now let me tell you about this Grenadine color. It is fabulous! I have another Staub pot in the same color. So pretty!
My favorite Staub piece, I use it for everything. You can sear meat, simmer a sauce, make a stew, roast vegetables, fry chicken, boil potatoes, bake a dessert, and everything in between! The cocotte can be used on any cooking surface, even induction. I often use it on my BBQ as an extra heat source. If the pan gets a little soot on it don't worry, it will wash off easily leaving that pristine white color.
This 5.5 cocotte is one of the most versatile pieces Staub makes. The heat capability of the pan is amazing - heats up quickly and evenly, also stays hot for hours. It has self-basting spikes on the interior of the lid which collect and return all moisture back into dish - nothing dries out. I often fry burgers or steaks in the pan and the searing capability of the pan is amazing. Also, the high walls prevent grease from getting on the stove top. The white color is soft and will look beautiful in any kitchen.
Pretty enough on the outside to keep out on the stove top and durable enough on the inside to tackle all your soup, stew, braising and chili recipes with ease. Staub cast iron is made in France with 3 layers of enamel on the inside that produces a perfect brown or sear. The lid has continuous basting beads for a perfect rich braise, roast or stew. Easy to clean and beautiful to look at this pot will meet all of your expectations.
A 5.5qt cocotte is probably the most popular size due to its versatility. Great for all your soups, stews and chili but can also hold a whole chicken and a large roast. If you only buy one cast iron pot this one will give you an exceptional cooking experience every time. Staub cast iron is surrounded by 3 layers on enamel on the interior and 3 layers of a beautiful glaze on the exterior. No need to season these pots and they can even go in the dishwasher if necessary. Interior is slightly textured for a perfect brown or sear and easy release. The lids have continuous basting beads for a consistently moist environment during cooking. No wonder restaurants prefer to cook in Staub. This pot will not disappoint.
