I love cooking with braisers but I especially appreciate the glass lid and being able to keep track of the action going on inside my cast iron pan. The dark blue is such a classic color and goes really well with my kitchen theme. The cast iron creates a perfectly heated surface for so many of my favorite recipes making this braiser one of the most versatile pieces in my cookware collection.
[Employee of zwillingonline] The latest acquisition for my collection of Staub cast iron cookware. I find cast iron superior to other materials : it makes tastier juicier food, requires considerably less oil, there is less cleanup, it looks good.
I have been in love with this beautiful, useful pan for quite a while. Imagine how excited I was to finally purchase it and have it in my home! Right away I wanted to make my husband a beautiful fried egg as he loves them and this pan seemed the ideal pan to create the fried egg of his dreams! Unfortunately not. I am not a newbie to cooking. I am a seasoned and well trained cook. However, I put olive oil in the pan, heated it to temperature, cracked the eggs in a bowl and poured the eggs into the oil when it reached a medium temperature. And the eggs stuck to the bottom of the pan like glue. So disappointing. My dream of crisp, perfect fried eggs died a miserable death as I had to scrape the eggs off the pan. So now, there is no way to go back. Everything sticks to the bottom of the pan. I am planning to season the pan in the traditional way, but since it's enameled I am not very hopeful to make it non-stick. I would have prefered to pay half the price of this pan and gotten a plain old cast iron pan that I could rely on to become non-stick. Would love to know if there's a way to fix this!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for taking the time to review this product, and we are sorry to hear you had a bad first experience. Please try seasoning and using more oil or a different type of fat with a higher smoke point, like vegetable oil. Sticking will improve over time. If you would like to discuss this further, we are happy to help!
My husband got me a Staub set last year and this is my favorite piece! I have a family of 4 and I use this every day! I will scramble eggs for brunch and then for searing steak on the stove top then sliding the pan into the over to finish cooking at dinner. You can't go wrong with the braiser with glass lid.

I purchased this braiser approximately a year ago, and it has been worth every penny. I mostly use it for larger one-pot meals, like cassoulet. It heats well and goes from stove to oven. The lid is wonderful for braising. While this is not something I use weekly, I'm always excited when I use it. I plan on having this braiser for decades to come and cooking up memories.
I would recommend this to a friend!
