My daughter gave me this set for Mother’s Day. After having used the same knives for 42 years, this is a wonderful treat. This set has everything we need, and the block is not bulky. The knives are incredibly sharp and easy to use. Would highly recommend.

Love everything about this entire set, can’t believe I went this long using cheap knives! High quality heave sturdy steel, extremely sharp. Perfect tools for any kitchen!

From a manufacturer with such a solid rep, I had hoped for a better quality product. The larger knives are nice enough, but out of the box not nearly as clean cutting and smooth as others I own. The smaller knives feel flimsy, with no real weight or balance to them. The handles on all of them are plasticy feeling and contribute to the light feel. If you had nothing, for the sale price, plus an additional coupon, it might be a good starter set. But if you’re replacing existing decent knives, as was I, consider an upgraded model. Unfortunately I was priced out of that option. They also show water stains very readily, unless hand dried. Surprisingly, I find the scissors are the thing I’m getting the most value from! Having them handy in the block, I’m rough cutting up herbs, lettuces, packaging. Go figure. Speaking of the block, though I like the way the knives lay on their sides, I wish the whole thing stood up at a more vertical angle. It takes up more real estate than the block it is replacing. Other than the scissors, it holds the same number of knives, but not laying them on their sides.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Always the Best

back in 1983 I asked a friend who was a chef at a high end restaurant what knoves he recommended--he showed me his four star Henckel Chefs knife and said if you want a knife that will last I recommend Henckels. I took that recommendation seriously and the next year started to receive them as my yearly gift from my Mother. I still have them and use them everyday. I have purchased this set for a wedding gift for friends in their 20's. I know they will both use them and they will last them a lifetime. If anything does happen to them they are lifetime replacement, no questions asked. Gotta love that.

A Lifetime of Usage

I bought this set in the 1970s in Los Angeles when I first started serious cooking at home. The salesperson assured me that this was a lifetime investment, and he was correct! I let the blades get a bit dull, but not long ago I brought them back to life with a great electric sharpener and a little technique. It was like getting a new set of knives. I was going to buy another much more costly set, but saved myself the expense by some special care of these knives. The handles aren't flashy or arty, but they've lasted many years without barely a scratch on them. This is truly a bargain in the best sense, and a consumer treasure. I don't have all eight items, but this is the same set basically.

After much research we purchased these knives and we are amazed at how easy they cut through raw potatoes and carrots. It makes slicing enjoyable and not such a wrist/hand cramper. There is little area where food can get trapped into hard to clean areas of the knife..
