Good for browning

I like everything about this except the glass lid. I bought this because it would have been too heavy for me with a cast iron lid. However, after using the 4 qt coquette, I notice the difference in basting is better with the cast iron lid. This is good for when I am cooking chops or steaks as it is more shallow. I don't know why I waited so long to purchase staub products. They are superior and will last a lifetime.

Lots of seering/braising space at bottom of vessel. Cherry enameled exterior makes anice statement. Even heat distribution is important for even cooking...this one's got it

Nearly 12" inches measured bottom...it seers/braises much. Glass lid will keep it neat and enameled all over helps clean quite easily.

Great Glass Lid

The glass lid really lets you see what’s going on inside the pan during the entire cooking process. It’s really helpful to be able to know how the food looks while it’s cooking. The lid is also very sturdy and oven safe at high temperatures. I also really like the heritage style handles that come on this pan.

This pan does it all, you can sear meat, simmer a sauce, make a stew, roast vegetables, fry chicken, boil potatoes, bake a dessert, and everything in between! The black matte finish helps to create a perfect cooking surface searing anything beautifully. Pan heats up quickly and evenly and with stand temperatures up to 500F, including the lid. Love that you can monitor your cooking process through the glass lid without disrupting the meal.

This braiser does a lot more than braise. You can pan fry, deep fry, steam and sauté in this pan. The textured black matte enamel interior ensures exceptional browning / searing; cast iron has incredible heat retention and distribution. Tight-fitting glass lid locks in moisture and allows easy monitoring of cooking. Domed lid accommodates large pieces of meat and enables steam to circulate. Colorful enamel finish will not chip, crack, or rust.

This braiser is so versatile. It can be used to make soup, steam, deep fry, pan fry, saute, braise or bake. I purchased it to use to make cioppino at Christmas time, it has the perfect depth for cooking the fish stew and I can get a whole crab in it. The heat capability of the pan is amazing - heats up quickly, evenly and retains heat for hours, perfect for a holiday meal. The gorgeous grenadine color says Merry Christmas all over it.
