[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After four weeks of use, I've found this laptop to have met my needs but there are a few things I would like to point out that may not be apparent before someone makes the purchase:
1. The battery level is disappointingly low. Depending on how you use the laptop, you should expect 1 day of activity before it needs a charge. You can't expect to be okay if you use this thing daily and forget to charge it one night but can't charge it later in the day.
2. The heat and fan noise are a bit much when the laptop is at full tilt. Yes, this is a given for any computer built for performance, but to some it might not be so obvious. I personally haven't found these to be an issue since a single layer of clothing prevents the heat from becoming uncomfortable and I can tune out the fan noise pretty easily.
3. Clickpad and trackpoint thumb buttons are a bit odd. After four weeks of usage the center of the clickpad has begun to change its reflective properties, and while I'm unsure whether that is the result of skin oils or surface degradation or both, I can say that it cannot be made to perfectly match the rest of the surface through screen cleaner plus a microfiber cloth. Also, the left thumb button for the trackpoint has been clicking on release (while the right of course has been silent when performing the same) for a while now.
All in all, between issues 1 and 2 it has become evident that the computing power packed into this laptop has come at the cost of it becoming more suited to being a workstation than a powerful general-purpose laptop. This may be unsurprising for some, but again something worth acknowledging before making a purchase.
I have discovered my findings to be mostly in-line with what others report on this product, but of course it's better to do the research yourself than blindly trust some abnormally-detailed review on the Internet. Happy shopping!
