Great cooling system, i wish i don't have to worry about over heating issue. I gave 4 stars because of the camera, the resolution is bit poor and blur. So for better quality view, i connect a webcam to overcome the issue. Hope Lenovo will consider this tiny flaw.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I updated from a T430U laptop to this Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 3 laptop. I was in the market for a new laptop after being with the T430U for 9 years. I was looking for something that is powerful, but also light, or at least as light at the T430U. Initially I was looking at the ThinkPad Carbon gen 8, but then I saw the specs for the ThinkPad X1 Extreme gen 3. With the X1 Extreme I am able to get a workstation that is light and easy to carry.
My first impression of this laptop is that it is very light and the carbon fiber weave doesnt stand out (which is good). I like the fact that the laptop came with an extra ram and ssd slot. I quickly updated the RAM to 64GB (two 32GB RAM sticks) and added two 1TB SSD stick.(dual boot windows and ubuntu). Once I turned on the computer I was amazed by the OLED screen. The colors were so vivid and the blacks were really blacks!
The performance of the laptop has been pretty good so far. It was getting hot but after installing the lenovo thermal management software It remained cool. One nice thing is that I hardly hear the fans. They are much quieter than the T430U fans. However, they do get really loud when you are starting to work the laptop.
The battery is not very good though, the most i could get is 3-4 hours before needing to recharge. This is basically a workstation, so i shouldn't expect it to last 14 hours.
Overall, I really like the laptop, it meets my requirements and the OLED screen really is amazing.
