[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far I have had great success with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 laptop! I am about to start a PhD program this fall in geospatial analytics and needed a computer that could handle heavy data processing and analysis. Thus far, I have been able to run complex data analyses in both R and Python flawlessly. The laptop will sometimes make a lot of noise when trying to process data, but that hasn't bothered me too much.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've now used the X1 for about a month and have am quite pleased with it. I use it for SW development and run a number of VM's containing the various dev environments. Thus far no problem running 3 VM's simultaneously. This system replaces my 6 year old W540 which is still going strong. Just thought I might be pushing my luck with it. Having 3 external monitors connected is a nice upgrade from 2 with the W540 as is the lighter weight. The only complaints thus far are that sometimes the fan kicks on loudly and the internal speaker doesn't seem to always work. The fan operation is not bad. It was a concern of mine when I ordered the system but is ok. I haven't tried trouble shooting the speaker yet. I generally have a blue tooth speaker connected so I haven't take the time to dig into the internal speaker operation. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend it.
