Glad I didn't pay for it

Since the apartment maintenance team installed it, it may not be the machines fault, but there is always water left in the filter area, and condensation everywhere when it's done washing. It makes a loud noise in the beginning during fill.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very basic model. No short or quick wash, no heated dry except on 2.5 hour heavy wash setting. Rinsed my dishes before using dishwasher and they did not come out clean.

We are happy to provide guidance with this dishwasher. This unit was designed with simplicity and ease of use in mind, so this dishwasher does not have a boatload of features for cleaning. We recommend running the Normal wash cycle again, and if your dishes are still dirty, service may be needed to properly diagnose the reason why your dishes are not getting clean. If needed, tou can schedule an appointment with a GE Appliances technician by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm

Why build a dishwasher that doesn’t dry the dishes
on May 14, 2024
Posted by: KBCH
I agree with so many of the negative reviews. This dishwasher has a very long cycle but it does not include drying the dishes, especially plastics. It doesn’t help to just leave the door after the cycle is finished. Somehow the very wet dishes remain that way. I’m not even certain if it’s using hot water?
I’ve seen reviews where you’ve left help guides but I can’t access them.

We'd like to assist you with your dishwasher. This unit includes a dry boost option (for heavy cycles) and a heated dry option (for normal cycles). For more information on these features and how they work, please refer to page 6 of the owner's manual. Here is the link: https://products-salsify.geappliances.com/image/upload/s--KAwIFvFE--/wt9masbafxuwkabch2ql.pdf?_ga=2.29023164.1611439165.1715606213-1734451522.1686318769

If the dishes still won't dry even when these options are selected, please refer to the troubleshooting on page 20.

If the suggestions above don't seem to help, you can schedule an appointment with a GE Appliances technician by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm

It’s a biosphere.

There is no steam vent on this dishwasher, so it stays wet inside, and dishes never dry. Even the no-heat dry option on other dishwashers allows dishes to dry, with water evaporating & exiting through a vent. People will leave the dishwasher door open in an effort to get the inside & their dishes dry, & someone will inevitably trip over the door & be seriously hurt as a result. It’s a tragedy waiting to happen. GE should be ashamed for putting out this piece of garbage.

Great basic dishwasher.

This is a great basic dishwasher that cleans and drys well while being relatively quiet - unfortunately it omits a few basic settings that previously were standard even on basic models such as selectable heated dry (see below) and a rinse only mode to give dirty dishes a quick rinse when you aren't ready to run a full load.
First I want to dispel some misinformation on prior reviews. This does have heated dry on both the Normal and Heavy cycles, unfortunately it is not selectable so it is always heated dry on both cycles. To avoid the heated dry you must use the 1 hour cycle. Dry works great on ours as long as we have rinse aid in the dispenser, drying performance is severely impacted when the dispenser goes dry.
One other personal recommend is to clean the filter regularly, it is a very fine filter and it gets caked up quickly which will cause smells between use and poor washing performance. Fortunately GE made it a cinch to remove the filter and rinse it out, takes maybe 1-2 minutes max so I give it a good rinse every week. If you untwist the "basket" inside the fine filter it makes it easier to get the inside of the fine mesh filter clean.
Bonus note. While this dishwasher is not meant to have the 3rd rack which is standard/available on higher end models it has the mounting points to install the one you can buy from GE which I did. It allowed me to store the utensil basket and open up room on the lower rack and use the 3rd rack for utensils, it does eat into the 2nd rack space but the rack easily slides out if you need the extra height on 2nd rack. Cheap and easy upgrade to this basic dishwasher.
I would recommend this to a friend!
