Roughneck 14 gal tote

We have a tannery and have been using the grey 14 gal totes for about 15 years. Now I can't find them anywhere. Since we use a formic acid/salt/water mixture it tends to eat through other totes. The Roughneck lasts years before it fails. I last ordered a dozen totes 3 years ago and it's time to replace some from 10 years ago. I can't use the darker blue or green ones because we need to be able to "see" through the end when mixing our chemicals. Help!

I have enjoyed my Roughneck storage box for many years. Finding out that I cannot replace the lids is a dealbraker! The lids are the first thing to go and disposing of a good containement unit because the lids have cracked is terrible for the environment and it costs me time and money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Durability

Discouraged. As outside containers, the Rubbermaid 18 gallon Roughnecks, are not as durable, the Achilles Heel of these containers are the lids. This then affects the overall durability of the container. One cannot purchase from Rubbermaid replacement lids. They inform me that they do not even sell lids to outside retail companies, so homeowners can purchase the separately. They do not last long and will crack along the perimeter for long outside use. We live in Southern California, where it gets hot in the summer. The advertisement sticker reads "Engineered for Life" is a mis-statement in advertising. The Rubbermaid Roughneck Container advertisement should have a footnote that reads "for indoor use preferred, not for hot and sunny climates, and not for stacking. " I have used these for storing various types of potting soil and various types of potting soil additives outside, as I do not have a inside storage availability. One ends up purchasing new containers every year to replace the lids.

do not last a lifetime

Roughneck containers are made with a durable polyethylene material for a lifetime of durability and strength. I have several 14 and 18 gallon totes that I purchased quite some time ago with cracked lids. Did not live up to claims of lifetime of durability. I was using them for indoor storage.

Lids Lids Lids

I have always had these containers and loved them because of the thickness. However, the lids leave a lot to be desired. I don't even stack the containers after the first lid cracked. Mind you the lid that cracked never had anything on top of it in the first place. I have 6 containers that need lids and cannot find them anywhere. I have seen that customer service has replied to others about the warranty. I am sure mine are within the 10 year "limited" warranty. But not sure of the process. Hopefully someone from customer service will reply to this post.

good bin, BAD LID

I purchased 8 of the 25 gallon bins because of their great stackable capability but all my lids have since cracked and are they not usable anymore. I store my Christmas decorations in them and need to be able to stack them to save room - help please!!
