great product with one caveat...

These things are just great overall. However, one caveat is in order. These storage boxes, especially the lids, do not bear up well in hot climates. Heat seems to make the plastic go brittle over the course of a few years. I'm in Arizona, and have found the conditions in an un-cooled storage unit to take a nasty toll on these things. I wish I could buy the lids separately.

Just can't kill them.....

I own at least 60 of the RoughNeck 18 gallon totes. I have stacked them, dropped them, dragged them, thrown them, exposed them to 100F+ weather & -22F weather, put them through 3 floods, 2 blizzards and 1 angry skunk. I've even used one to wash a dog....the same one who found the angry skunk. And yet everything stays clean, dry and safe inside oblivious to the torment I put the totes through. Haven't managed to destroy a tote yet. Pretty impressive!

The BEST Storage Boxes I Have Ever Found

I am SO pleased with my recent order directly from Rubbermaid. I ordered ten 10 gallon Roughneck storage boxes. I searched many places online and in stores to find these particular boxes in BLUE and the only place I could find them was directly from Rubbermaid. I am so happy! I have been using this type of box (mostly in 18 gallon size) for many years. The blue is an older color, I guess, and is not available in the 10 gallon size in stores in my community. I really wanted to match my other boxes in my favorite color. Thank you, Rubbermaid, for still having these in stock and available for purchase.
I have tried a couple of other brands of boxes and have been disappointed each time. Rubbermaid boxes are sturdier and last forever, easier to open and close, more comfortable to move around (I prefer the plastic of the Rubbermaid boxes to other brands), and are steady stacked on top of one another.
I am so happy to discover that I can order from Rubbermaid directly--it is easy, fast, dependable, and actually a lot easier than trying to get large numbers of boxes home in the car. I really cannot say enough--I am a committed Rubbermaid customer. THANK YOU, RUBBERMAID! You have always been there for me and hope you always will be!

I have used roughneck storage boxes for 40 years. I am a potter and I have stored glaze in them. The large one holds 150 lbs of wet glaze. Not one has ever failed.
My recent order of 6 medium boxes are for downsizing my pottery in retirement.
My son is carrying on the business, in fact he will carry all the pots to a craft show.
They can be stacked 3 high without fear of collapse.

Great, I have a wall full of them but...

I have dozens of the 18 gal bins lining a wall in my gerage. The only thing stopting me from finishing my orgzination masterpeice is finding a way to get a label to stick to the freakin bin for more then a few hours.

Colors now too limited-color coding now impossible

Years ago the roughneck totes came in many more colors, with that it was possible to set up a color coded bin system. Now there are only two colors. I understand why selling fewer colors @ retail is more practical, but why not make small runs of colored bins and sell them online. I Would pay a premium for different colored bins.

Once filled to capacity the containers can not be stacked since the thin walls allow the container to buckle.
