High Hopes - Fulfilled - and Exceeded!

I took a good long time comparing wine coolers. I was initially impressed with ones of similar design from other high-end appliance manufacturers costing twice as much as the KitchenAid Panel Ready 46 bottle unit. Lower cost units were appealing for their cost savings but their construction was loose; things flexed and moved. The KitchenAid Model KUWR214KPA coolers were substantial, tight, and reassuring. Since the wine cooler will be part of my home bar cabinetry, I was drawn to the model that can accept a wood panel. I have the panel completed but haven't attached it yet. It doesn't appear it will be difficult. The wine cooler has been running for 4-5 days out in the free air and initially you can hear the compressor but not at all loud. Once the cooler came to temperature, the wine cooler was virtually silent; not drawing any attention when it cycled on/off. Set to the lowest temperature [42°] the upper section was spot-on (+/- 1°) and the lower section was a few degrees off [46°+/- 2°] but stable. Frankly, I don't have enough bottles of wine to attest to the capacity [I'm working on it!] but in the mean time it's great for bottled water, soda, beer... I'm pleased with my choice. One lesson learned and a slight note of caution: The initial turn-on of the Wine Cooler was delayed by the 'Cool On' selection on the control panel not being illuminated / operable. The unit appeared to 'boot' when plugged in to the wall by illuminating all sections of the control panel, then the two temperature displays came up as "66' '61' and when the display stopped it had only 'Cool Off' illuminated. [should have had 'Cool Off and Cool On' present. Second time, third time the same. After close inspection [looking for a switch or something] I discovered the door switch actuator wasn't moving smoothly and was binding in the hole in the lower panel. When it released, the 'Cool On' appeared and I was able to turn on the unit as per instructions. Afterwards, I removed the bottom panel that was binding and using a drill bit a size larger than the factory hole I was able to ream it out a few fractions and the actuator is moving smoothly... Do your research, but if you choose KitchenAid you will not be disappointed

Disappointing Wine Fridge
on August 4, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this wine Fridge after having a Sub Zero for 20 years. It’s disappointing because the racks are spaced to close to allow full utilization of the space. It limits the number of large bottles than it can hold.

Good-looking functional fridge

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the look and size of this fridge, it l keeps two separate temperatures and hold more wine than I can drink, but it makes this buzzing noise that aggravates my tinnitus, so I can’t stay long in the same room.

Handsome and Functional Refrigerator
on January 25, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this refrigerator to replace our previous Kitchen Aide wine refrigerator that we had for 10 years. It’s very sleek looking, and coordinates with my stainless steel kitchen appliances. I love having a wine refrigerator to store our wine at the exact temperature needed. Very happy with.the look and the quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our 2nd Kitchenaide wine refrigerator. We bought. A Wine Enthusiast unit for our temporary rental - the kitchen aid is so much better. It is quiet and the temperature is steady (the two zones are also a great feature). Definitely recommend!

Downgrade, Not Upgrade: A Disappointing Step Back
on August 20, 2024

Upgrading from the discontinued 2018 model (which replacement parts are no longer offered), I was hoping for improvements but was disappointed. While the aesthetics remain pleasing, the functionality has taken a significant step backward.
The most glaring issue is the redesigned shelves. The reduced internal depth to 16 ¼ inches from the previous 16 ½ inches renders the unit nearly unusable for standard European wine bottles. Fitting eight bottles per rack as advertised is misleading; it requires mixing and matching bottle sizes and shapes, which is impractical. Champagne, Prosecco, and many white wine bottles simply won't fit. Additionally, the shelves themselves are poorly constructed with broken rails and rough wood trim.
The product's dimensions are also inaccurate. Stated as 38 ¾ inches tall, it actually measures 34 ½ inches, preventing it from fitting under standard countertops.
Overall, while the exterior maintains its appeal, the internal design and construction quality are a major disappointment.
