Bought it for our 8yr old grandchild. Put in batteries, couldl see nothing but dirt. Saw the other review talking about cleaning the lens, however, the lenses are smaller than a q-tip, and we are not going to try to clean what is probably plastic.
Constructinon was also very cheap plastic throughout.
Save your money. Even for a toddler, this would be a waste of money.

Perfect kid's microscope!

This microscope is awesome! It's very sturdy and great quality! Perfect for kids, probably need to be 5 to be able to use it independently. It comes with so many accessories and the case is sturdy and useful. The projector lense feature is pretty cool. Turn the room lights off and turn it towards the wall to be able to use it. It's fun that it comes with a few supplies to take your own specimens and an experiment booklet for ideas. I recommend making a separate additional purchase of prepared slides as this set doesn't come with any. This microscope set was so much better than I thought it was going to be. Totally worth the money!
