Birthday Gift
on June 19, 2023

It was my birthday and I got to choose which Lego set I can take home and build so I chose the Taj Mahal. I felt like it was a nice shape and all that. It looks very nice on my dresser with my other sets/Mocs.

Get It!!

I started building Legos this summer (2023), and I never knew that Legos could be like this because growing up, I was never exposed to actual sets, just bricks not attached to anything, so it is cool to see what can be done with these! My favorite types are the Architectural Sets that are based on real places. I also built the Singapore set and the Pyramid of Giza. What I love about the architecture sets is that they are incredibly detailed.

Beautiful display model

As an elder-millennial Lego fan, I love the Architecture series. I'm enough of an unabashed nerd that I don't mind having Lego sets on full display in my home, but I admit that some make a better "general" impression than others - and the Architecture sets are near the top of that list, with the Taj being no exception.
Despite the moderate footprint and having a relatively straightforward geometry when you really consider it, there was still room for some fun and interesting moments in the build. I admit that placing all of the little 1x1 base tiles was a mite tedious, but the detail in the windows, the minarets, and the towers was engaging. And of course, as is par for the course with the Architecture sets, at the end you get a genuinely beautiful little display - one of those ones that people will peer at for a minute before going "wait...is this Lego?!"
I haven't been to see the real deal yet, but even so, the Taj has a pride of place on my "fancy grown-up Lego" display shelf.

Relaxing build

This build was very straightforward. It was quite repetitive but I knew it would from the picture. It was a very relaxing build with no stress points. The finished build looked really good.

It looks beautiful but my only gripe is the repetition. And the small tiles will drive you a bit crazy.
