Broken out of the box

I had to have the bin ordered to the store I shop at and I took it home in the sealed cardboard box. It appeared fine at home and I loaded it with some items. When I went to move the bin I found a hole on the backside (left side) of the hinge.
It appears the plastic is very thin for a product that is promoted as a heavy duty product. I didn't cut the box or tape with a knife. The box was not damaged when I picked up the bin at the store either. It means there is poor quality control at rubbermaid during the production process and/or the products are becoming inferior.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

we bought the action packer to house our family's earthquake preparedness kit so, fortunately, we have no idea YET of how it will hold up BUT we were amazed at how much it was able to hold, how sturdily it was constructed and how tightly it closed.
We feel confident about its effectiveness and if the BIG ONE comes we will let you know how well it did its job

Great for all my gear.

I use the action packer to store my camping and climbing gear. I also use them to bring the food car camping. They are durable and look good doing it. The only problems are that they don't stack and if you sit on them they will eventually deform and almost collapse (which they do bounce back from). But really, why don't they stack? Seems like an easy Idea. Now if only a new model could work with existing ones. Better get the engineers on it. Thanks

Action Packers -- all sizes

Action Packers are great and rugged. I have one in each car with tools and emergency type items. I use larger ones for storage. They stack and I don't have to worry about their getting wet and collapsing like I do with boxes. They are so much sturdier than most storage boxes. Well worth the extra cost. Used them also in Scouting. We used the largest ones for patrol boxes.

I use it in the bed of my truck. It is bolted down and is great for carrying groceries and other items since I have a small truck. I would definitely recommend it. I shopped different sites for it too. Rubbermaid was the least expensive with the best shipping rate.

Super Tough!

Years ago I was given a 4 wheeler that had an Action Packer attached to the front. This container is very handy hauling fencing supplies, tools, calf tagging equipt. The cows unfortunately have figured how to open the container so they can get to the "treats". It is very well made. I rolled this 4 wheeler twice and the container survived and kept the 4 wheeler off my face. Thank you for making such a well made container! It gets lots of abuse. I even broke the handle and it still works! Got a new 4 wheeler and hope to buy an Action Packer for it.

Long Lasting

My wife gave me an Action Packer #1170 for my birthday about 10 or 15 years ago. I have always had it in the back of my pick-up. I use it to store ratchet straps and small ropes. This box has been exposed to the sun and rain every day for a very long time and has never failed until last week when one of the locking tabs, (where you put a pad lock, part of the lid) finally broke off. I intend to buy another one. This is the best plastic thing that I have ever owned.
