Stands up to our Troop year after year after year!

As a parent of two Eagle Scouts, I am a veteran of many, many, many campouts. I have a great deal of experience with shuttling boys and camping and cooking and patrol gear. Our troop was using these boxes when my oldest joined the troop at age 10 in 2000, he is 24 and in grad school now. The troop was still using the same boxes when my youngest earned his Eagle in 2012. And, they are still using the same boxes now! We have added some new boxes as the troop increased in size and we added additional patrols, but expenses are voted on by the committee and as a member, I cannot recall ever needing to replace any boxes! And believe me, these boxes get knocked around.
Each patrol has a designated and usually pretty heavy Patrol box (for pots, pans, dishes, etc.) and a staples box (for non perishable food items. (Yes, each patrol also has a cooler for the perishables, but those are from a different company!) The boxes can get pretty heavy and the younger, smaller scouts drag them across parking lots and camp ground sites and crash them into and drag them over and around things and occasionally remember to two person carry the heavier boxes. The older and larger scouts just pick them up and toss or heave them into the back of pick up trucks, van, SUV's, cars, trailers, etc. with ease. The boxes stay tightly closed, and the contents survive in surprisingly good shape, especially considering the "careful" handling they receive from pre-teen and teenage boys! I can honestly say that these are very durable containers!

International Tough!!

We have lived overseas for 15 years and have traveled back and forth to the states often. Our action packers always make the trip and after 15 years and millions of air miles, hundreds of drops and throws by baggage handlers and extream temperature changes, they are still going strong.

Bring Back the Half-Height Large Action Packer!

I wholeheartedly second the comment by justalars. Bring back the half-height large Action Packer! We use them for carrying and protecting water-quality sampling instruments. The half-height model was perfect for this purpose. The full-height version is too deep and wastes alot of space.

Bring back the half height box

I use these boxes a lot to store my shooting and outdoor supplies. I miss the half height (12") high by 17" by 26" boxes. They are perfect for storing on metal shelving.

High Quality Durable Product

This is definitely one of the best storage/transportation solutions on the market. Have owned several models for years for hunting, fishing, camping etc and still going strong. Improvements could include a lid that is more user friendly as a table top and a gasket to help keep water out in case of water immersion. Otherwise have never had rain or splashed water get in to these things. Would also be nice to have a smaller version of the 35 Gal model. A must have for attaching to trailers/ATV's to haul accessories, storing and transporting boating accessories, truck accessories etc.

Make one more size.

Excellent product. It does the job that a metal container would be expected to do. The only thing I'd like to suggest is one more size 19.9L x 19.3W x 17.4 or something in the 16 gallon range.

Great Product

The action packer is the best storage bin I've ever used. I bought my first one (the 15.5 gallon, which I WISH were still made) about 20 years ago and I still have it. It has some battle scars from the years of the abuse of camping but its still in good shape. I just purchased 2 more of the 24 gallon ones and 2 of the 8 gallon (which are to small, I didn't look at the dimensions and thought they were the 15.5. LOL) for my self built Jeep camping trailer and they work perfect. I would recommend these to anyone. I've seen some posts about them being cheaper than the older ones but I cant really can't tell a difference from the one I bought 20 years ago. If you need a super strong one try the Rubbermaid Brute containers. I have some of those to and they are strong. The lid doesn't have the red latches but it seems to close tight and they have never got wet. Did I mention I WISH Rubbermaid still made the 15.5 gallon Action Packer ?
Rubbermaid, you are on the top of the container industry. Please stay there.

Need to make them more structural

I own a dozen of the 24 Gal Action Packers. this is a great product for gear storage and hauling. Biggest criticism is that you cannot sit on them. I take these camping and EVERYONE wants to use them as a chair either by the fire or otherwise but they are not quite structural enough for that purpose. If an adult sits on one long enough it can actually deform and then not close again. I would love to see a little more structure built in for this utility.
