Good sound, Bad housing design

I am satisfied (just) with its sound, especially considering its size, but I might not recommend this to my friends.
1. Sound: (4.5/5) Last night, I compared with some other old headphones/earphones I have, AKG K99 (over-the-ear), Sennheiser PXC 250 (on-ear, noise cancelling on), and Sennheiser CX-380 (in-ear-canal), which are in a similar price range (street price) roughly. I used Nexus 4 and an MP3 player as its sound source, because I guess most people use this for outdoor use. HK NI has pretty good mid and high, but when it comes to bass, there is no oomph, which can be expected naturally from its small-sized unit. If the included ear-tips can give you a perfect fit, you might feel a little bit differently. Overall, I felt its sound was quite similar to AKG K99's, well balanced across the entire frequency range with slight focus on upper-mid and high. This might be due to the fact that AKG got involved in its design. For me, AKG K99 was the best among them, PXC250 was a little bit better than HK NI, and CX380 was a lot worse than HK NI. Considering its small size, it provides quite descent sound, but if you are looking for bass-heavy headphones, HK NI is clearly not for you. 2. Design: (1/5) I guess HK designers wanted to maintain an identity across the entire headphone line up. Rectangular design looks okay on its big brother BT or CL, but personally I think they should have used a different shape for in-ear headphone design. Rectangular ones simply do not fit into outer ear comfortably. It is not painful to wear HK NI, but not as comfortable as CX380. In addition, pushing the ear-tips in is okay, but removing them is quite uncomfortable because of its small, rectangular design. I usually use middle ear-tips, but with this one, I needed to use large ones in order to alleviate its uncomfortable fit. The wire is quite curly and stiff: even after around 10 days of use, it stays the same. 3. Three-button control: (4/5) HK NI is for iPod/iPhone/iPad. So, only one button in the middle works correctly with Nexus 4: one short click for play/pause, one long click for Google now, two clicks for skip forward, and three clicks for skip backward. Google now works quite well with the microphone on the wire. I didn't test call connection or termination with this. In short, HK NI gives you quite well balanced sound, but because of the not-so-ergonomic rectangular design, it is a little bit uncomfortable to wear.

Buy these on sale; great phone headphones

When you first use these headphones they sound bland.
After 40 hours of so of getting the headphones broken in with white noise they start budding (pun intended) and start sounding like HK quality-- so don't judge them right away.
I got these for a steal for $18.00 a pair (here on the HK website), so I can't complain!--this is why I had my value maxed out on my review.
Cons: Bass is weak -- but the bass doesn't sound muddy, so raise up the volume, cord length could have been just a bit longer for my liking, price is expensive--unless on sale
Pros: the 3 different sized earbuds will fit anyone, the cord doesn't tangle easy, very good sound EQ balance, great noise isolation, awesome phone mic and sound

Way better than Bose headaphones, I did a side by side test. These blow Bose out of the water. Buy them! You won't regret it.

The sound is not good at all, need more bass. Also, the headphone didn't really fit my ear, the square design actually hurt my ears so bad that I have to return the product.
