Easy Setup, much improved network

Very easy to setup - it took less than 5 minutes. Increased signal strength and speed of my home network. Only setup for 5 days but so far no drops - will have to see what happens in long term. So far - very good.

This is a game changer. It solved all of my internet troubles. I have a Bell 2000 modem/router. It on it's own is a piece of garbage. My wifi/internet was constantly dropping out. Adding this router and disabling my Bell wifi was like flipping a light switch. Now 5 people in the house can stream data and it hasn't dropped out or hick upped once. Buy it. highly recommend.

Bought it to weeks ago to replace my crappy telus modem which wasn't even giving 300mbps on a gigabit connection. I am consistently getting 600mbps wireless and 950 wired. There is no range drop in my apartment anywhere.
> Easy to setup
> Fully featured
> Great coverage
> High speed and Consistent ping

I bought it to extend my Bell internet and in the end I use just this router. I disabled the Bell's wifi and connected between with a cable and nou I have a very good and strength signal everywhere in the house (a bungalow with basement). I installed this router in the middle of the house on the first floor. I am very pleased with it and with the quality and the speed of the internet. The OS is very intuitive and easy to setup. I installed the app on Android but is easier to setup in a browser. It is not my first ASUS product but everitime I wase very satisfied with the quality and durability of the products.

After my TP-Link 3150 completely quit, I needed a new router and this ASUS looked like it would do the job from the small description on the Best Buy site. One nearby store had it in stock and I picked up at curbside. It has a powerful Wi-Fi signal, good for the entire house. Set up was done through an the "ASUS Router" phone app. It went smoothly and the app lets you do all the inputs through the phone. The router set-up access is not done by going to the web address. However, I wanted to see how it would work via the computer. The phone app indicates that the access address is 192.168.50.1 - not the typical address for ASUS. Also, the access user id and password are not "admin" and "admin" since the wifi SSID and password are entered in the phone. I turns out that the user is the SSID you create and the password is the one you create for wifi access. Then, you have complete access via phone or computer. The router is very rugged and compact. The price at Best Buy (and Staples) is outstanding compared to other vendors. ASUS responded to a question via customer support. There is a good warranty and it looks like this is built to last. Finally, the WIFi6 feature is faster than previous WiFi version. It's all good.

Failed first night

Followed the steps to set it up and recorded amazing speeds on SpeedTest so we were excited. Moved it to its final home on a shelf and was surprised it didn't have internet anymore. Checked internet with old router and it was still fine. Tried to reset the Asus router, but could not re-establish internet. The phone app made it easy to navigate but that didn't solve the connectivity issues. Sending back for refund.

Very good, up to date features, limited range

I bought this because I have an Asus RT-AC86U with which I was quite happy, but it was getting a bit unreliable, as older routers do; it was now too unreliable for my stuck-at-home family who hold strong feelings about the reliability of their network connection.
My ISP feed is 100Mbps/10Mbps so I looked at dual band mesh routers, as tri-band would be overkill, and I had decided it was time to move from a single router to a mesh network. I decided the Asus Aimesh would give me the same performance as the Netgear dual band mesh I would be likely to buy, with less cost now as I'm already invested in the Asus system. The Asus solution is feature rich also, probably intimidatingly so if you don't have experience with routers. You can just ignore the settings you don't understand. Anyway, the rich set of features was a plus for me when compared to the less configurable Netgear mesh network I considered. The RT-AX55 was the cheapest WiFi6 ASUS router I could find with good wireless features, and 1800 Mbps is plenty for my ISP feed. I found the RT-AX55 on sale at Best Buy. For the sale price I paid for a brand name router, with a very up to date feature set, I don't expect better value than this.
I installed the RT-AX55 as the new router and moved the RT-AC86U to become a wireless Aimesh node. RT-AX55 setup and Aimesh setup were easy. The RT-AX55 has rather limited RAM. I usually see 3% CPU usage and 66% RAM usage with 30 or so wireless clients, and a few wired clients, so capacity is good in spite of the amount of RAM provided. This is in an Aimesh network so I don't know if these metrics would hold for a standalone router application.
The combination of these two routers in the Aimesh has been reliable in the couple of weeks I've used it. I'll stay in the Asus Aimesh ecosystem and will consider a second RT-AX55 unit when the RT-AC86U needs to be retired. (I considered Easymesh rather than Aimest but I suspect Easymesh is an open standard with little participation beyond one company, so I consider it practically a proprietary mesh standard at this point)
Supposedly you can set up to four guest networks on Aimesh (or this router) but I didn't have success beyond one guest network, and wasn't inclined to invest more time in experimentation.
Compared to the range of the mighty RT-AC86U, the RT-AX55 broadcast range is much less impressive, so that's why the RT-AX55 gets four stars instead of five. Other than range, I'm quite pleased with it. The RT-AX55 by itself probably would be fine for many 2000-2500 sq. foot two-story houses if positioned closer to the centre of the house.
Two RX-AX55 units (on sale) in an Aimesh is reasonably priced as a feature rich WiFi6 mesh alternative, if you have modest ISP bandwidth as I do. Networking the two units together with Ethernet would be even better, and probably serve well for a 250-500 Mbps ISP feed when so connected.

I have this as an access point with another asus router. I have to factory reset the device every 2 weeks. I should have bought a better model from asus. The other router is rock solid.
